It's been a good week to be a DOGE!
The price of dogecoin saw a massive price increase this week.
While many have been watching bitcoin this week, there has been another coin that has been significantly outperforming.
As bitcoin bulls were cheering bitcoin climbing about 8% over the past week, dogecoin bulls were cheering a 200% increase.
Yes, that's right, dogecoin is up 3X in the past week or so.

It went from about $.0025 to $.0067 in just a couple days.
Why the sudden price increase?
On Friday of last week it was reported that there may be a bridge between the dogecoin and ethereum blockchains.

Something that dogecoin investors are clearly excited about.
Then, on top of that, yahoo.finance also announced that they would be making trading available for DOGE directly from their yahoo.finance platform.
DOGE would join bitcoin, ether, and litecoin as the only cryptocurrencies currently available for trade on the yahoo.finance iOS app.
Eventually they are also expected to be traded directly from the yahoo.finance webpage.

From joke to contender:
If you recall, dogecoin was a fork for the litecoin blockchain several years back.
It was somewhat of a joke at first, playing on the doge meme mania that was sweeping the internet starting back in 2013.

Since that time, dogecoin seems to be gaining some real traction as a coin with some potential real world use cases.
Especially among peer-to-peer tipping and micro transaction platforms.
I am a bit jealous that something that started out as a joke is catching on so quickly while steem continues to languish.

It was a good week for doge. Good to see any coin doing well at the moment even if I don't have any at the moment. Steem will have its time too. It's still a brilliant blockchain and massively undervalued right now. Some day we will be looking at those massive gains and not just a pump.

Steem was plagued with wallet issues, so people couldn't move either Steem or SBD to exchanges. Some people stopped posting on Steem because they wanted quick profits instead of hodling.
Not that I remember from it. I had no problem moving funds back and forth to the exchanges and picked up a few different alt coins at the time and more steem as well. I know that there was a pump on it but steem was pushing up that time as well as all the other coins.

At least HitBTC has had Steem and SBD deposits disabled for months... When I tried moving Steem from HitBTC to Bittrex, I had to wait for a while because when HitBTC re-enabled withdrawals after several complaints to customer support, wallet on Bittrex was offline.
Ya there has been a massive issue with them for at least 6 months in the steem and sbd markets. I have never seen them active. All the main exchanges were working fine as far as I know.
The time I was talking about was this time last year when all the prices were on the move and there were big opportunities to trade. I used it to top up my sp which was pretty much non existent at the time.

I only know what happened with exchanges and Steem between October 2017 and December 2017... After that I switched to trading other coins as profit for long term trading on Steem in Bittrex was quite good. I just ride the bottoms and tops instead of trying to maximize short term profit.

Well... you can select to earn almost any crypto and I had it set to Steem for the past few months... so I have only earned around 1,000 Dogecoins
Every little bit helps though ...

This Week Dogecoin price increase
This is great. This will br my first time of hearing such coin so it it nice sharing this with me or rather us.
It's been around a while. It was a fork of litecoin way back when. Started as a joke, now it's actually being used.
I loved to buy some doge few months ago and recently sold and made some profit too . I was hopeful as I was informed by ADSactly and just waiting for some up ;) I will see how it goes and will buy again .

Yes. A few months ago, During the hangout, he was saying doge worth to buy and we can buy it. I love to join each hangout and lots of things to learn :)

I bought 4k dogecoins a while back but never had any faith in them untill the very moment I sold them because many people told me it was a bad buy and a shitty coin that was just a joke.
It was only 0.0025 usd per dogecoin at the time of buying so I dont have regrets. I wonder why yahoo would pick dogecoin of all coins to add to the yahoo financial page, to me it sounds like bull(I am far from an expert so I could be tottaly wrong).
Maybe it is fake news by yahoo to drive up the dogecoins in price before selling them for a profit and telling the world it was a misstake or it won't happen for any other number of reasons.
After the billion user hack a while back It cant be going good for yahoo and maybe this is their way to make a ton of money.
I think it has something to do with how easy it is to integrate the wallet, similar to litecoin. At least that is what I read thus far.

That is a bummer. I feel for you. I remember selling some coins in the Spring of 2017 only to watch them be 10X to 100X higher by January of 2018. Ugh.
