What to Expect at an Indoor Dog Park

It is too cold outside for the dogs to play, below zero at times.

To get interaction with other dogs we decide to take our dog, Max, to the city's first indoor dog park. As you can see the room where they play is large at 1,200 square feet.

Everything is inside and temperature controlled so the dogs can run and play.

On the other side of the glass windows are tables, couches and places you can hang out study, work on your computer or relax.

We decide to stay inside with the dogs since Max is the smallest weighing in at nine pounds.

This couple has a small dog also and decide to stay inside.

Check out how small Max is next to this dog.

When a new dog is entering the other dogs run to the door to greet them.

The woman in the photo works here and stays in with the dogs to monitor them at all times.

She tells me the employees rotate and spend about three hours each in with the dogs.

Max coming over to greet me and I have to remind him to go play.

What I didn't know is this time he was coming to claim me by sprinkling pee on the bottom of my pant leg. Omg!

This is the sign out front of the establishment.

Review

  1. Would I return?
Yes, when the outside temps are unreasonable for me and the type of dog I have. Max had not spent any social time with others in a week.

  2. The worst part?
It smelled there from all the dogs and being indoors. Also, the big and small dogs are in the same area. The outdoor dog parks have separate areas.

  3. Would I recommend this indoor dog part to others?
I would say check it out for yourself.

The average number of puppies in a litter is four to six.

Wow, that's awesome! I wish there was something like around here, because it's definitely been snowy and bitterly cold here the past couple of days, and it looks like that will be continuing throughout the week.

I could see a considerable change in the dog. Even his eyes looked clearer.
It is a stress reliever for them to get around other dogs. Plus I want to keep him social.
The only thing is Max is quite tiny. There were other small dogs but it is still strange to see those great big ones with him.

Thank you so much! ❤️

The main thing is that the dogs are happy and can train their social behavior.

Exactly, I agree with you whole heartedly.

We've been looking for something like this for Amstel!! These cold temperatures are so tough on him and he gets depressed. Unfortunately there's nothing like this here yet.

The couple I mentioned under one of the photos had a small dog like Amstel.
Later another dog like Amstel showed up and they got in a disagreement with the first one. One did not like the other being in charge.
It had to be broke up at one point. Max came and jumped in my lap. LOL
None of the dogs mentioned were hurt and they went back to playing.

One of the bigger dogs decided he did not like Mike and kept barking. The dog was nonthreatening back a distance. It was so funny. Finally, he stopped. The lady that works there said it could have been mike's sweater hat or just the fact he is a man.

She said some dogs do not like men. :)

Dogs can be super territorial. We've had to stop taking Amstel to outdoor dog parks because so many people here don't train their dogs properly. A few years ago he was attacked by a pit bull and German shepherd, I did what they never tell you to do...I stepped between them and scooped him up, but not before the pit bull grabbed him around the neck and shook him. I think every dog owner should be required to take their animals to formal training classes.

OMG
The one thing I did not like at the indoor dog park was the big dogs in there. I would not leave my little guy alone in there.

At the outdoor dog park here, they have separate fenced-in areas for the small dogs and large dogs. Makes more sense.

You are right no training is a problem, some people do not take the time.

Some people have not socialized their dogs or their dogs just like to fight. They should not be allowed in the park.

That does make a lot of sense to have the park segmented like that. Most of the parks we've been to here are all one big area.

Funnily enough, this looks not so different to the indoor play parks for children that we have here in Netherlands! When the weather is bad, we go to one around the corner... and so much of this sounds so familiar!

Maybe that is where the idea came from. This is something new for us.
It was really good for our dog.

I guess i never really thought about an indoor dog park but it makes sense. Must be hard-ish to keep odor control down and i agree the small dogs should have their own area

Howdy rebeccabe! How interesting and I bet the dogs have a blast there! How much does it cost?
