For the love of Dogs.

Addy is now 11 years old.

She is a Maltese/Poodle mix. She loves everybody and loves to be rubbed. Extremely expressive and vocal. It has been a joy to have her in my life. She is a family member and will always be.
Recent weight loss and digestive issues led us to see multiple vets and we finally took her from Virginia to Tennessee in search of a better vet. Sadly she was diagnosed with duodenal cancer. Right before going to Tennessee my wife and I had booked a vacation. We were going to visit multiple islands. We had received an email from our usual resort in Saint Martin, The Grand Case beach club, that hurricane damage was repaired. Everything was paid for. The evening prior to our departure Addy took a turn for the worse. We had arranged a 24 hour pet sitter for Addy while we would be away for 2 weeks. That evening we decided that we could not leave her and did not go on vacation. We attended to her and continue to do so. She is still with us. She gave us 11 years of joyful company. I hope our company brings her comfort in these dreadful times.
I had no idea that how terrible it is to bear the loss of a loved pet. I have fought back tears and I have often failed. We used to often call her chunky monkey and now to hold her and feel nothing but bones is heartbreaking. Addy, I hope you get better but if and when times comes, what is to be cannot be stopped. I must accept the misfortune but with the hope that in the complex uncertainty of life, death and hereafter we shall meet again.
