jat regiment is the oldest indian army founded by the british and established in 1795 as the calcutta native participated first and second world war including india and abroad also and has won in 1939 and got 39 vir chakra, 8 mahavir chakra, 32 shaurya chakra , 170 sena medal and 8 kirti chakra after the independence.

it also has been awarded many war honours including 2 victoria cross, 8 mahavir chakra, 2 ashok chakra for its bravery and the title of light infantry was given to first jat for his best permormance in afgan war of 1842. during the indo-pak or indo - china war jat play a vital role and used their amzing war skills and had been uprooted by mughals and siwans of the red fort. this is the reason why jat regiment`s name is taken with full respect in indian army.
