If you don't like voting bots...GET ENGAGED!
A lot of folks are complaining about voting bots and those utilizing bot upvoting services recently. I wanted to weigh in with my two yen about why these systems are natural products of a free market, and how their proliferation can be mitigated by those who disapprove through simple, free market action here on Steemit. What is that action? Why, simply stating your market preference through engagement/voting.
The market simply follow cues and signals. It is a lot like nature. There are basic laws and parameters (like gravity), but where it ends up is ultimately the choice of free market actors. In a word: individuals.
I will also briefly discuss why currently I feel that responsibly leveraging some of these upvote/bot services can be advantageous to high quality, yet still largely unrecognized bloggers in the short-term.

I'm fairly new to this platform. What I've seen is that only ways to get attention/exposure are
1)Having a considerable social media following on FB, YouTube etc.
2)At least dolphin sized account
3)Upvote bots
Maybe luck would help too. if I managed to get the interest of a whale, then I could succeed. but there are only so many whales and they have only so much time.
Even spending 10 hours on Busy/Steemit etc. might do the trick. But I don't have that much time.
I like your message and you have real respect for freedom. I really appreciate that. Blockchain is still young. Next Fork could give us better tools for engagement like those promised communities and Hivemnds.
Happy steeming :)
The other thing to consider is, you can get a popular post that has many upvotes, just no steem power behind those upvotes. People need to bring at least some money to the table too.
I'd generally agree. Some folks don't have any money to bring to the table, though. I know that was my case. If those people already holding SP truly care about their investment long term, they will reward quality content instead of just following the latest vapid, heavily upvoted fluff, in my opinion.
I'm very new to the platform and would be quite happy to spend "real" money to help the system and myself, I just don't yet know how to best/most effectively do that since Im still learning the basic LINGO let alone smart steem economics. Great post and new follower @kafkanarchy84.
Welcome to Steemit it, I am sure there are people want to and cannot or people like yourself who are not sure how. The idea is to either A give valuable content or B upvote content that is valuable by buying steem and converting to steem power. There are probably other ways as well, those are the two I think of.
I'm working on content for sure, so far my visibility has been low. I upvote regularly but I don't think I have enough weight to make it matter lol
Was this streamed or pre-recorded? The quality is insane on my 4k monitor!
Yeah man! Live! Seems like they’ve upped their game a bit heh?
I came to the platform to share content and expect a reward, for a while I felt that things were being distorted, but even people who once taught me the best of steemit and clean principles, now explain to me how to use the bots, how not to fall? if I look back and forth at paid votes, is that the way to grow? to be honest, slow down a bit, I hope to find the answers I need, in the meantime I read all I can, I am looking for friends to learn from!
The best way to grow is through engagement and networking. It's not as easy as it used to be, but it can be done.
I appreciate your time and your good advice. Thank you very much.
cool content. upvoted/followed, pls vote my stream too :D

I really like the upvote / bot service, their presence is very helpful to us who are still new in steemit
Dlive wont play for me :(
But anyways I made a post about this a while ago where i came to the conclusion that we lack free market tools to efficiently control upvote bots: link

@medragon no shit right?? Frustrating that this is mainly what I see as comments on my own posts.
Oh, the irony...
I was listening to you carefully, but my listening skills are worse than reading ones, so I've missed some information:( but I like such free English Steemit lessons, speak more:)
Actually, I'd like to add "my two yen" too:)
I've just practiced these very bots. My friend advised me to do it because they gave some profit. I don't have many upvotes and much support in Steemit, unfortunately, so I decided to try.
My impressions are negative more, than positive.
It takes rather much time to follow them, to chase them, to count and to follow the right time and the right bot. It's rather boring and exhausting for me. Moreover, the profit is very little.
And the main - I don't like the idea of buying the votes. It means I make trash, nobody needs and likes it, and I need to pay to get at least these few cents... Sad practice.
But it is really can be useful for people who don't get upvotes at all but need to get at least something.
P.S. Now it's really much harder to get support in Steemit. I don't know the reason but when I started my story here, I could get some attention and support of interesting posts even from unknown people, and it motivated much, but now they have disappeared somewhere, or just stopped to upvote all steemians and just choose those whom they know for a long time.
Or maybe I misunderstand something...
By the way, thank you so mjuch for your support to me!:)
I've just a few people who give me attention and I love them so much:)
