I admire your honest self-appraisal.

But most of all, I applaud your persistence.

IMHO, in the end, it's not the brilliant ones that come out on top.

Here's why:

Prodigies, especially the kids that are driven by parents wishing to live vicariously through them, burn out well before adulthood; adding yet another number to the "could've, would've, should've" statistical graveyard.

"Gifted" adults fare no better. They often wind up in "Hubris Land".

They get arrogant, rely too much on natural talent, and always get overtaken by the persistent ones who eventually outwork them..."

Charge on!
