Life Lesson: How to Get Everything Done!

  • Sorry about the New York City noise! :) *

I’m often getting asked, “Debbie, how on earth do you get everything done?!” In a normal week, (though perhaps it’s anything other than ordinary!) I work full time, work out almost every morning, have Latin dance team rehearsal for 2 hours, work on video content and filming, spend quality time with my husband, plus I have to get the “normal” stuff done like cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking, seeing friends and family, reading, watching fun videos like this one, and sleeping! Ha.

I have picked up some tips that have helped me tremendously to get everything I need to get accomplished done without stressing out. In a nutshell:

  1. Use a paper planner to visually see your week mapped out.

  2. Group similar tasks together (emails you have to write, stores you have to go to, people you need to call, things you have to buy online, etc.).

  3. Map out the grouped tasks on your planner, spread out on appropriate days you have some time, with a manageable amount that you can actually get accomplished.

  4. If you don’t get to a certain task on the assigned day, cross it off and write it down on the next day.

  5. If you cross off and re-write a task for more than 2 weeks without getting it done, it’s not that important to you, and you should cross it off of the list.

  6. Only look at one day at a time as you go through your week so that you do not get overwhelmed and make yourself anxious seeing a ton you have to do that week.

Deep breaths… you can tackle each day as it comes! Another bonus of the above methodology is that by literally scheduling things like calling friends, it will make you a better friend. Each friend has a different amount of attention they need like watering a flower or different type of plant. Some need more water than others! So if let’s say you have a friend who you want to talk to 1x a month, write in your planner let’s say the 1st of every month to call that friend. Or another friend may need 1x week attention, write their name down every Friday as another example. This is a perfect way of getting something important accomplished on a given day and not stressing about it out of the blue that you forgot someone special to you because of your busy schedule!

Yay, you're welcome, and oh yes that fresh out of the box sneaker feel is divine. :)

This is great advice because I never get much done on the list. But what I really want to know is how do you get 37 dollars on 9 votes?

Glad to hear, and I hope this helps you get everything done! Hmm I'm not sure. :p I think the right people have to like your videos?
