What Happened to Steemit's Unlimited Content Editing?

You've probably been wondering why you can't edit your posts past 7 days, right? With the latest version of Steem (v19.10), we were supposed to have this option added to the blockchain. Today I'll explain why this isn't yet available on Steemit.com. I'll also share how you can begin editing your 7-day old posts even though Steemit.com hasn’t added this to their user interface. Special thanks to @roadscape and @timcliff for putting in the work to make this all possible.

Tutorial starts at 2:40 in the video!

Thanks for the info, that would be cool if we could edit those older posts, because my posts are my journal and I'd love to be able to correct obvious mistakes within my "journal".

Also, maybe you know, do you have any info on Steem hardfork 20, and specifically SMTs? Love to see that come, ASAP.

I'm with you on that. As soon as I have some details on HF20 and SMTs I'll definitely share that with everyone. We're still waiting, but I know it's gotta be near!

That's very good news to me since I sometimes go back to past posts and wish that I could edit them, only to see the option is no longer there after a few days, A lot of people will be happy to hear that there will be a chance to edit again whether we choose to or not, thank you for this great post!

Yeah, and if you're like me I sometimes fumble my words lol. And those little mistakes bug the crap out of me. #perfectionist :)

I know the feeling, it's a good thing to be a perfectionist, ain't nothing wrong with getting it right all the time, lol

It would be nice to edit posts forever. It'd be nice to un-resteem too. @ironshield

I would also love the ability to add some sort of comment with my Resteem (kind of like a Share on FB). It would only show up in the Feed when people visit my blog, but not in the actual post.

+1! If I like something enough to resteem it, I want to have the option of telling my followers why!

Good to have you back and informing the blockchain:) Alas I was only able to get half way through before the buffering broke down. It will be nice to edit past posts but yeah really ... earning on them is where it would really be at:)

Thanks, and I'm SO glad to be back!! Just need to get my internal clock adjusted to this Mountain Standard Time LOL. And agreed!! If they can figure out a sustainable way to let us earn past 7 days, then there's no doubt that would bring on the masses.

Great to see you back! Crazy that you need to keep us up to date even though you just back!

Lol, try and keep me away from the camera! 🤣

I think it is great that they are expanding the flexibility of the blockchain but not sure if it has been the best deployment given the issues you have highlighted. It seems like it was rushed for whatever reason.

I love the pictures... looks beautiful! I totally understand the travel adjustment to timezones. :) I have seen something mentioned about updating contact older than 7 days. It is a great idea to do this. I appreciate you sharing... now here is a newbie question. Ok... transparency time! Could you explain what a "Witness" is? I don't have a clear understanding... :)

Hey Paul, I thought you'd never ask :)

Here's a video I did a while back (I skipped forward into the video a bit) where I talk about Steem Witnesses and why they're important: See Video Here

This was prior to me becoming a witness myself. And prior to me creating my home studio lol. Kind of funny to look back on now. But this will break it down for you.

Awesome... thank you for the information! I thought you might have something in your tool box. :)

@lux-witness has updated to 0.19.10 and it caused us to miss our first (and only till now) block :-(
But after that missed block we recovered and it works fine as far as we can tell. I see that @drakos has had to revert to 0.19.5 though, I would be interested to learn why ...

I think no need to edit posts after 7 days, because that post no longer benifet you this is why this isn't available.

Found your stuff on Youtube, good stuff and clearly explained. I'm new here, so it's helping, keep up the good work!
