Mets' Jacob deGrom 7th in NL to win 2 straight Cy Youngs
Jacob deGrom had another sensational season on the mound for the New York Mets.
He was rewarded Tuesday night with the Cy Young Award. This was the second one for the 31 year old right-hander. He is also the 7th National League pitcher to win 2 Cy Young Awards in a row.
deGrom signed a long term deal with the Mets during Spring Training and rewarded the organization with another stellar season. He was in the top 3 in most pitching categories.
This announcement comes 2 days after teammate, Pete Alonso, won the National League rookie of the year award.
deGrom is the first Met pitcher to win back-to-back CYA. It is the 6th in team history. He also joins Tom Seaver as the only NL pitcher to win the ROY and multiple CYAs.
Justin Verlander joined that list tonight with his CYA in the American League.
