According to Calvo, in Spain there is a law of this type that "invites but does not oblige" companies to demand the presence of women in places of power and leadership. In addition, he recalled that this Monday the State of California (United States) made the decision to require by law the presence of women in management positions, "following in the wake of some European countries."
In the case of Spain, Calvo has indicated that, once this law is approved, it is intended to give a transitional period to companies to adapt to this obligation.
In general, this proposed Law - which, according to Calvo, will soon begin to be processed - is aimed at "tackling globally all the problems of women's employment discrimination", such as access to work, compatibility of motherhood and the employment or co-responsibility of personal and work life, as well as to solve the "problem" of the wage gap.
