Sources - Baylor's Matt Rhule to be Panthers' next coach, gets 7-year, $60 million deal

The Carolina Panthers have a replacement for Ron Rivera.

Matt Rhule, who turned Baylor into a national powerhouse, is headed to Tarheel Country.  He agreed to a 7 year, $60 million contract to coach the Panthers.

Rhule was believed to be the leading candidate for the New York Giants job.  He met with Carolina on Monday and had a visit scheduled for Tuesday with the Giants.

The Panthers showed how serious they were by offering him a contract on the spot.  Rhule reportedly contacted the Giants who told him they were still willing to meet with him but they had another candidate who they were seriously considering.

Rhule decided to cancel the interview and took the Panters offer.
