This news story is wild! Just think of the physics that are in place to make this thing live at this depth! Only because of the insane pressure above it is it able to maintain its form and continue to live, feed, and procreate.

This fish verges on the scifi creatures we have seen in such things as Dr Who, Star Trek, Stargate, etc. I can't help but think of multiple Dr Who episodes where the Doctor or a companion holds something and it then just dissolves in their hand. This fish would do the same thing given it has but a few bones. A gooey gelatinous mass that is living and also one of the deepest creatures on the planet...

Otherwise, the fish are made of a gooey substance that relies on the crushing pressure of the deep ocean—some 2,500 times what we land-dwellers are used to, according to Smithsonian—to hold their bodies together.
