Elusive Emu Remains at Large in North Carolina After More Than Three Weeks

So, there's an emu on the loose somewhere in North Carolina. I figured I wanted to share some sensational nonsense every once in a while. You know what this reminds me off? The coyote and the roadrunner, except we are talking about a much larger bird here.

I have never been to an emu farm before, but have heard of the products associated with the animal. I should add eating emu to the bucket list.

I'm not sure how animal control services train their staff, but emus aren't natives to the US. So, it seems kind of odd they would know how to track and handle the creature. Then again, that could be the reason why the bird is still on the loose. This isn't the usual livestock that run off into places they shouldn't.

All jokes aside, I am surprised this particular bird has not gone on nearby farms. How would you even corral this bird? Of course, the one mentioned in the article sounded like it's on the petite side. Emus are usually 6-foot monstrosities! Although they are light for creatures their size at about 120 pounds.

Emus can be lucrative business. Breeding pairs cost $5-10 thousand. Chicks goes for several hundred dollars regardless of age. It turns out some people keep them as pets as well.

And...are they seriously going to refer to it as "Fluffy"?
