How much energy does Bitcoin actually use?
This shows how much energy Bitcoin is using each year - and puts it into perspective nicely by comparing the use of power from Bitcoin to whole countries, and also to VISA. Bitcoin is now consuming more energy than the country of Austria! This is sure to leave a huge carbon footprint, and something to consider for the future.
Is Bitcoin sustainable for the long term, or is it time to start looking at better decentralized alternatives?

I can not hold anymore seeing all that bullshit about BTC energy consumption. You would better look how much energy banksters consume, hom much fiat money printing requires.

True. It is still a problem to consider as it will be having a huge effect on the environment

Not sustainable if they can´t find a way to lower the cost of energy. I saw a raw goods analyser predict Bitcoin at 6.000 $, because of the energy cost. That was when Bitcoin was at 20.000 $ mark. Should have shorted it then.
As the energy cost runs higher and higher, the cost of Bitcoin is bound to go even further down.
Yeah I agree - I think at the moment the profitability is right down. Some miners might leave, but then the rewards for those that remain will increase due to less competition.
I agree that the price will probably keep falling
