in #diy5 years ago

I found this DIY to be a simple three steps and the opportunities for designs and uses are really endless!

Step One
Cut your CD into a bunch of small pieces. It's better if they are different shapes and sizes. Cutting it with scissors is a tad tough and some of the wrapping will flake off if you scrape it to hard but this was the best way to get these pieces. I even attempted to run the CD over with a car, break it with my hands, beat it with a hammer, and hit it with an ax. After all that I decided to stick with the scissors.

Step Two
Dip your paint brush into the glue and brush it onto the spot you choose to apply your CD pieces you cut in the previous step.

Step Three
Place your pieces onto the top of your box where you just applied the glue. They do not have to be super close together it is really up to you and the look you are going for.

BAM! Your once boring box now has a neat holographic shattered "glass" design! You can use these boxes for an assortment of things such as storage or decoration. Mine in particular is used as a gift box. I have a friend who loves to surf so I went with a wave design and I put the present inside. You can do any design you would like and make sure to be as creative as possible! If you try it out let me know, I enjoy pictures of all of your finished products!

Hello Hello!

I love crafts, they are productive and it shows the ability you can do :)

Greetings from Venezuela ♡

I have never tried to destroy a CD but I see that you on the other hand are an expert in this matter :) It's a pity that the small pieces break off. Isn't there any other material that could be used for this?

It's a great way to decorate various things at home. It looks good and it's easy to make.

Congratulations on your curie vote and have a lovely day!

ehy dear @kaylee.nicole, I absolutely love all the forms of recycling and creativity put together :-)) you have found a nice way to decorate your boxes, in the same way I really like the mosaic !!
congratulations on your curie vote

Good diy
Great way to use CDs.
I remember that some pots in my grandmother's garden, with embedded mirrors, looked beautiful, so this could be used in many ways.
Thank you for sharing your good work.
Congratulations on a Curie vote!

I am going to try that!

Yes!!! And you call me to see the post. :-)))

Would it be easier to cut the CDs with knives or what about a paper cutter? Better yet, what about pliers or other tools that can be used to snap the CDs? I'm thinking, wire cutters possibly. But then again, I've never tried to cut up CDs before except for perhaps my hands a few times.

To be honest, I only tried scissors and they were difficult.

As they say from The Christmas Story movie, hey sonny, you might poke your eyes out with that gun or with those scissors lol.
