Greenhouse Update - Fitting the solar vent openers 🌞
Well the usual chaos of a week just not being long enough. I did however manage to get both of the greenhouse solar vent openers installed. If you have a greenhouse, cold frame, heck anything that needs a window opening when its hot, you should Check these out.
Bayliss XL greenhouse solar vent openers
I got two of the above vent openers from amazon during January. You bet i just got them installed in time to as the GH was hitting 30*c today before there were in. Wouldn't of been good for the plants long term, with out a means to open the vents.
I had to throw the manual in the compost bin as if i fitted them as per the instructions they would be in the shade all day and that isn't going to help the greenhouse solar vent openers function to there full capacity.
I mentioned i picked these up from Amazon, and whats better i got them with a voucher i received from work, win win.
This isn't my first time with a vent opener and have had mainly positive experiences with them.
If you you haven't seen these before there quite impressive given how simple they are. I'ts basically a big ole leaver with a spring to help keep it closed and a black tube of magic.
That little back tube contains a wax with a low melting point. When it heats up the max melts causing it to expand. When this happens it pushed on the leaver and causes the window to open. When it cools off it contracts and the spring helps it to close.
Totally passive, no ongoing costs and hopefully zero maintenance.
now that these are in i can move on to some other functional jobs in the GH as i want to be planting in it in less than 4 weeks!!!
Can you spot the mistake on the vents??? 😂 10 points to the person that spots it...

The one vent looks to be thatched the wrong direction... 🤔
Keen eyes there @nateonsteemit must turn it around at some point 😂 some times i get caught in the moment and forget what i'm meant to be doing
The far one seems to be installed differently than the near one? Not sure which is correct....
Good spot @goldenoakfarm the closer one was put in upside down so the clading is the wrong way and the rain will run behind the boards 😂
I love this quirky, functional, you-doing-life post. "Mistake" is an opinion only. 😊 I noticed the lovely seat to sit in the sunshine more.

Thanks so much @artemislives it's a fact in this case the i put the closest vent in upside down so the cladding isn't running in the right direction 😂 yeah i love sitting down in the sun when we get

Amazing gizmo... I thought I was going to read that it was automated by a solar-powered computer that opened vents based on times.
What a clever invention. I wouldn't be too bothered by the fact they're opening upwards, they'd probably vent heat better that way. No big deal if a bit of rain gets in...? Critters on the other hand..... 🤷🏽♂️
