Africa’s wildlife is incredible. Offers unique and beautiful biodiversity. Ongoing threats, especially from agricultural expansion, mining, over exploitation of wildlife and fishery species affects native species- directly impact livelihoods, food security, water supply and lessens resilience to extreme events for people living in Africa.

Wildlife is being destroyed to meet demands from China, Europe and the US. Urgent action must be taken to protect Africa’s development and protect its biodiversity.
African countries are confronted by climate change and ongoing socio-economic situations (unemployment, access to land, weak educational systems, government corruption, gender discrimination, and poor health care systems).

African and world leaders must develop and practice policies that encourage sustainability, investments in solutions that can help reduce the impact of agriculture on biodiversity, promote the restoration of natural resources, and reduce the harmful impact of unsustainable natural resource use. There is an urgent need to enhance and step up efforts to reverse the current trends of biodiversity loss.

It is possible that local communities and biodiversity conservation can coexist successfully. An urgent message must be made clear that biodiversity is not a luxury for the benefit of a few, it is an essential requirement for our survival. Continued awareness surrounding over exploitation (especially mining, poaching and overfishing) is key. It’s important to stay informed – the more you know the better. It’s also important to keep having conversations with our friends and family about the urgent need to protect Africa’s biodiversity.
A healthy plant life purify our air, clean our water, provide us with food and regulate the climate. We cannot live without nature.

Africa is home to some of the world’s endangered species. These animals are a huge part of this world and deserve to live as much as we do. Animals need our voices and protection, so they can recover and exist in safe, nurturing environments.
