Distinctive Doors - The Chrysler Building's Elevator in NYC
Sticking with the Chrysler building in New York, I decided to drop another distinctive doors post, the tag started by @tattoodjay. Check out this Elevator door. It is truly a one of a kind design. The triangular 'up' light above it is classic art deco design but the door to the Elevator is something else entirely. I mean, its still art deco but taken to a whole new level. That is inlaid wood of 8 different types of exotic woods. Given that this was built in 1928 the maintenance to keep it in this good condition must be not only expensive, but painstaking.
When I saw this door, I knew I had to gran a shot for distinctive doors!

Absolutely distinctive! Whenever I come across a gem like that, I have to wonder what was the inspiration for Willian Van Alen to design such a lavish elevator on the inside and out!

I love that elevator door so intricate

you had no hassles with security guards int he building, last time I tried they said no photography there
There were two in the building and they seemed completely unconcerned. There were a few tourists in the in lobby taking photos. I must have been lucky and just gotten the laid back ones :) or they've changed the rules.
I think a lot depends on the guards on duty and their mood, of course during bug events in the city its not even worth trying, you have inspired me to go in and try some shots again soon

Very outstanding door. This is a good work of art. Amazing how they can make something so old still maintained to look new.
