Doing it the other way around and using “shithole” as a substitute for “dungheap” is super fun for when you happen to find yourself perusing the Bible:
“He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the shithole.”
Really though, this is legitimately a better translation that more properly conveys the intended meaning and emphasis of that verse. It was supposed to be shocking to the conscience.
The mileage we can get on “dungheap” as a metaphor just ain’t what it used to be.
