(As if I ever was)

Imagine this scenario.

Imagine that a group of people get together and build a platform on which people can engage in social interaction. Something like FaceBook or perhaps Reddit. Imagine that it's not only free but there is a slight chance that you can earn some money while doing the SAME thing that you would have been doing on the other Social Networks.

You'd think people would be appreciative?

you'd think wrong.

"But..but...I didn't get ANY upvotes on my one line stupid worthless post...it's not FAIR"

"The Whales are ruining it for everyone"

Sort:

Ha! I put so much work into every post. Nearly 100% is steemit original content, although a few pieces have come from my blog. More often, I repost from here to my personal site. I love this place, love writing, love writing here. :)

hint: MOST of the votes on steemit come from bots..they don't even read it.
so...it makes sense to post a LOT...but don't make long posts.
a paragraph earns as much as several pages

Interesting! I didn't realize that. It's also a bit disappointing. I'm grateful for the real people who show up and have conversations in comments. That feeds the writer's ego. ;)

@everittdmickey is right - I was doing 4-6 posts a week that were long and took hours of effort. A few people told me to stop that and post more - shorter posts. Now I switched to 3 per day and make them less than 500 words and fewer photos. Shocking improvement in my results and my attitude.

And!!! By posting more - I attracted a few more little bots. I am shocked. The bots I had are actual people who added me since we are friends. The new ones are just out of the blue.

Steemit is a mystery that keeps on giving!

I'm all about argument...er...I mean conversation.
It's hard to get one started on Steemit...too many bots.
notice the number of 'view' on a typical post ? (this post is not typical)
generally you have one or two views and ten or twenty votes..

I have noticed that! And I post 3 pieces a day like you, @fitinfun, and have noticed much better results, although weird and inconsistent sometimes. I love when I end up with a curation trail, but I love the feeling of being seen and heard and given the opportunity to listen as well.

If you have a 'massive prescense' you might catch the attention of a whale.
Like BlockTrades...when a whale upvotes you it's noticable.
what a rush!

That would be amazing. How does one have a “massive presence?”

post about twenty times a day.

I have had 2 'big' votes - it is indeed a rush.
I just want mooooooooore of them! lol

I had not thought of that and now I'm excited to have it happen. I am thrilled with 30 cents for one vote now.

@sndbox recommends posts have 5+ photos and a minimum of 300-400 words. Of course, that was three months ago.

never heard of sndbox.
can anyone under forty concentrate long enough to read four hundred words?

Just reading some of the comments and replies on here. I tend to try and post original content everyday. Some of it I share from my journalism, some from life, some is just Steemit - but it never occurred to me to break posts into smaller chunks to hope to gather more steam! lol Anyway, I reckon the best way for noobs like myself to keep on going to is to ... keep on going! lol

yup..break up into bite sized pieces...it's easier to chew.
or 'episodes' .

Howard Tayler of Schlock Mercenary fame does that...he draws online comiz. (fabulously successful)
some times it's four frames...some times less...very rarely more..
each one has a 'zinger'

The really long posts tend to get the point across in the first couple paragraphs anyway. So why keep writing. Get to the point, show your sources and let the discussions begin. That is what makes it fun.
Bots bots everywhere. Ahhhhh.

I read somewhere.
"tell them what you are going to tell them.
then tell them.
then tell them what you TOLD them."

I think it was an advertising class perhaps.
sounds more like dog training.

There are a lot of millenials on the site. Attention span shorter than your average dog !!

no dog is that inattentive.

Point, set, match. In tennis lingo (that no millenial will be able to follow)

hahaha u crack me up today! cheers!! :P

I like some cheese with wine
Well you are right sir for same time and post they get nothing over there but I think still they don't believe in this platform .

You can use that attitude as your basic, simple and free "idiot detector".

Anyone that thinks they are going to make serious money on steemit is an idiot.

Unless you are technically literate enough to build one of the 100's of little tools and bots and other gizmos that effectively siphon fractions of pennies from thousands by being helping tools or helper bots.

You can make some decent cash, a penny at a time, if you know how to build tools that work beside and with steemit.

Anyone who thinks their blog content is worth more than a few pennies a day is an idiot.

would you like that crow with or without tabasco sauce?
