Data Chaos, Digital Nomad Life, and Kilimanjaro Coffee
Yesterday was a digital detox from hell. I spent hours wrangling my photo library, a tangled mess created during a recent drive formatting frenzy. Duplicate images were multiplying like rabbits, and my trusty Digikam app proved useless in the battle. Desperate, I turned to Geeqie, a software savior that miraculously tamed the chaos. But just when victory seemed within reach, my SSD rebelled, refusing to delete 3300 unwanted files. A tech glitch that left me scratching my head.
Enough was enough. I traded data for tunes, escaping to the sanctuary of a sofa and eventually to my dorm room. The eerie silence was both calming and unsettling, a stark contrast to the usual hostel hustle. Last night, I had the dorm to myself. It felt like a private room filled with empty bunk beds.
Today, I'm embracing a slower pace. After a peaceful morning, I'm sipping coffee and crafting this post. My checkout date looms, but I'm extending my stay for some more days. First, a quick money run and then to the cozy confines of a local cafe with reliable Wi-Fi.
Speaking of cafes, I've discovered a gem at the foot of Kilimanjaro: Kili Kahawa. While their coffee might be a tad pricey, it's a world away from the watery concoctions served in some other places. The internet is a godsend, a rarity in this part of the world.
Data woes continue to haunt me. I'm considering Google Takeout as a solution to get my data out of the cloud, but the process is daunting. And I'm on the hunt for a decent free cloud storage option with Nextcloud installed. Any recommendations?
For now, I'll focus on sorting through my digital mess and enjoying the rest of my day. Stay tuned for more updates on my nomadic adventures!

Data chaos continues. Another unproductive day. Tried to tackle the mess at a cafe, but downloads and installs were a bust. Back at the hostel now, but a neighbor's three-day-long music marathon is making it tough to focus.
