Chalk It Up -- My Daily Fantasy Basketball Journey Vol. 7
The losing streak extends to 3 days. After starting the season hot with 4 straight winning days, I have followed it with 3 straight losing days. Hopefully today is the day that streak ends.
While it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to yesterday, I felt pretty confident when I set my lineup. To make matters worse, I made two lineups and both lost.
Let's take a look at my roster construction process from yesterday's lineup.
Started with the value picks as I always do. Dennis Schroeder for the Atlanta Hawks was ruled out, so I selected Kent Bazemore for increased usage.
Also starting point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers Milos Teodosic was out again, so instead of Malcolm Delaney who I used last time, I went with Austin Rivers.
De'aaron Fox was seeing lots of minutes and usage in the second unit of the Sacramento Kings. Even though his price tag has been slowly climbing, he still has tremendous upside.
Ersan Ilyasova was ruled out again, so I went with Taurean Prince who I thought who get additional usage.
The obvious stud choice and it showed in the ownership at 48.8% was DeMarcus Cousins, since Anthony Davis was ruled out.
Then I filled in the rest of my lineup which was more difficult because it was only a 5-game slate. In the past, I was able to get really cheap value and this allowed me to pay up for the studs, however this time I was left with having to use all mid-range to fill in the blanks.
Here is my lineup I entered into the $400K Thu NBA Clutch Shot ($100K to 1st):

I ended up in 75873rd place out of 119048.
First mistake was not adjusting my lineup with the news of Marcus Smart returning for the Celtics. This would obviously lower the usage of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum who I had rostered. Other than DeMarcus Cousins who scored 79.6 fantasy points, the rest of my lineup was just blah.
To make matters worse as I mentioned earlier, I actually made 2 lineups, the other without DeMarcus Cousins. Needless to say, it didn't turn out very well.
Total Profit for 7 Days: $10.91 - $8 = $2.91 Profit
