Chalk It Up -- My Daily Fantasy Basketball Journey Vol. 4

in #dfs7 years ago

I didn't enter any tournaments this past weekend since I was busy, but I was back yesterday with my $4 entry into the $400K Mon NBA Clutch Shot ($50K to 1st) Fanduel Tournament.

It was an 8-game slate which for me is a perfect size tournament that gives you enough variance. I found it pretty easy to construct my lineup as there were a bunch of value picks to choose from.

Normally for roster construction I always start at the the values in the slate and the studs I want to target. There was a lot of value due to injuries and non-starts by the usual starters.

First thing I did was lock in my 2 value picks.

Mike James was named starter for the Phoenix Suns because Eric Bledsoe was out and his price tag was only $3500.

Malcolm Delaney was another easy lock at $3100 since he was replacing starter Dennis Schroder for the Atlanta Hawks.

These two picks allowed me to get two studs in James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both were also benefiting from their starting Point Guards being out which would increase their usage.

After adding those two to my lineup and I then added Devin Booker. He would also benefit from Bledsoe being out with higher usage and he always has tons of upside with his scoring ability.

Then I started filling in the leftover spots with more value picks such John Collins who was only $4800 and would get the start with Ersan Ilyasova out.

That left me with the 2 Small Forward Spots and Center. After messing with different combinations based on the salary I had left, I ended up picking Dillon Brooks because he was cheap and had upside. I picked Josh Richardson because Hassan Whiteside was out and that left more usage and scoring. At Center I chose Dwight Howard because he had a decent price and also great upside.

Results:

James Harden only scored 36 and Dillon Brooks posted a dud with only 5 points. My other picks did well to help me cash in the tournament.

I ended up in 12489th Place out of 119048 entries which was enough to earn $9 prize. With the $4 entry fee, I netted $5 profit.

My Total Profit for 4 Days: $13.91 (Running Total) + $5 = $18.91
