Today's Scripture
For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to live, keeping you from your neighbor’s wife, from the smooth talk of a wayward woman. (Proverbs 6:23-24)
Thoughts for Today
In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
The Bible is the inspired word of God. It is powerful and we need God's word daily in our lives.
The Bible is like a light that shines in the darkness, it reveals and bright to light all weakness and evil that is hidden. It shows us what is true, acceptable and the perfect will of God. By reading the Bible, we will know what is right, and what is wrong.
As Christians, we are not to equal ourselves to the standard of this world. The standards of this world will continue to change according to season and time. But the word of God (Bible) is forever true and it never changes. It is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forevermore.
Although our perception may be molded by our upbringing, culture, society, television, social media, or our peers we are not supposed to compromise our standards to the standard of this world. We are to always check our lives and compare it against the word of God.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)
God's word is like a mirror for our soul, it shows the reflection of our soul. It will show us, all our impurities, it shows us all the ugliness that we hide deep within us. It brings to light all those things and we are transformed through God's word. We are brought through repentance through the word of God. The word of God is so powerful, it does not only show us our sins but also show us the truth and who we are inside and who we are in Christ.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you for your word. Your word is alive and active. It is sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints, and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Heavenly Father, align our hearts to Your word. May our hearts reflect Your word and love always. We desire to hide Your word in our hearts so we will not sin against you. May You (Word) dwell deeply in us so that we can bear fruits that are pleasing unto You God. We ask this in Your Precious Name, Jesus. Amen!
