Überall in den Medien: "Das MEGA-PASSWORD TOOL - EIN MUSS FÜR JEDEN!" oder "Googles kluges Passworttool" - "Schützen sie ihre Passwörter jetzt!!!!!"
Aber was steckt dahinter?
Die Installation war richtig einfach.
In den Chrome Addon-"Store" gegangen, Addon installiert und es ist da - das dauert keine 2 Minuten...
Aber Moment mal... da kann doch was nicht stimmen oder?
Wie man bei diesen Listen bei "https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords" sehen kann, sind diese mehrere Gigabyte groß.
Es kann unmöglich sein, dass ein Addon SO VIELE Gigabytes in den Arbeitsspeicher laden kann.
Auch Festplattenzugriffe, nur wenn ich meine Daten eingebe?
Bei älteren Festplatten undenkbar!!!
Dann wurden wir relativ stutzig... wie genau funktioniert der Abgleich meiner Daten?
Online. Das ist das Zauberwort.
Wenn du jetzt 1+1 zusammenzählen kannst, dann drosseln wir die Rechnung mal weiter auf:
Google + Addon (Password Checker?) = Tonnenweise Daten auf freiwilliger Basis des Users!!!
Also das kann nur gut ausgehen für Google.
Es ist sogar relativ interessant was das Addon sich da so mitnimmt:
Zudem wird nirgendswo erklärt, welche Listen genau verwendet werden.
Was sehr schade ist, da man dann nicht genau weiß: werden alle Listen in ein Pott geschmissen oder erstellt Google eigene Listen..
Was ist dann das positive an diesem Addon?
Ja es überprüft. Wenn wir die vielen Tracking-Möglichkeiten weglassen, ist es ein doch recht gelungenes Addon.
Verbrach wenig RAM, wenig Speicher und macht soweit keine Probleme.
Das einzige was mich da ein bisschen stört, ist das man keine technischen Informationen bekommt.
Das schränkt die Nutzerbase doch etwas ein. Da Menschen, die sich mit der Materie bisschen besser auskennen, auch gerne mit offenen Karten spielen wollen.
Aber wir kennen Google doch alle, da spielt keiner mit offenen Karten, außer wir, wenn wir Google benutzen.
Fazit
Ja im großen und ganzen eigentlich ein schönes Addon, aber leider wird hier (soweit in der Beschreibung zu entnehmen) mit verdeckten Karten gespielt.
Anderseits kann man sagen, Okay ich benutze eh den Google Chrome, Google weis eh schon was mein lieblingsporn ist, dann kann ich von dem Schutz profitieren.
Also muss man sich hier wahrscheinlich entweder auf die Seite der Privatsphäre stellen, oder auf die Seite des Schutzes vor gestohlenen Passwörtern.
Ich würde mich über eure Meinung in den Kommentaren sehr freuen.

But what is behind it?
The installation was really easy.
I went to the Chrome Addon "Store", installed the Addon and it's there - it doesn't take 2 minutes...
But wait a minute... there can't be something wrong or?
As you can see with these lists at "https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords", they are several gigabytes in size.
It can be impossible that an addon can load SO MUCH gigabytes into the main memory.
Also hard disk access, only if I enter my data?
Unthinkable with older hard disks!
Then we became relatively suspicious... how exactly does the synchronization of my data work?
Online. That is the magic word.
If you can now count 1+1 together, then we throttle the calculation further:
Google + Addon (Password Checker?) = tons of data on voluntary basis of the user!!!
So this can only end well for Google.
It is even relatively interesting what the addon takes with it:
In addition, nowhere is it explained which lists are used exactly.
Which is very unfortunate, because you don't know exactly: all lists are thrown into a pot or Google creates its own lists...
Then what's positive about this addon?
Yes it is checked. If we omit the many tracking possibilities, it's quite a successful addon.
It used little RAM, little memory and doesn't cause any problems so far.
The only thing that bothers me a bit is that you don't get any technical information.
This restricts the user base a bit. Because people who know the matter a bit better want to play with open cards.
But we all know Google, nobody plays with open cards, except us, if we use Google.
Conclusion
Yes, it's a nice addon by and large, but unfortunately (as far as can be seen in the description) it's played with hidden cards.
On the other hand you can say, Okay I use the Google Chrome anyway, Google already knows what my favourite porn is, then I can profit from the protection.
So you probably have to either take the side of privacy, or the side of protection against stolen passwords.
