The Use of Bots (German-English)

Vor einigen Tagen bin ich auf einen Artikel gestoßen in dem sehr heftig darüber diskutiert wurde, ob die Nutzung von Bots gut oder schlecht ist.

Dabei gingen die Meinungen sehr weit auseinander. Generell muss man allerdings verschiedene Bots unterscheiden. Es gibt Bidbots, dabei kauft man durch ein Gebot Upvotes. Ob man damit einen ROI erzielt, lasse ich mal dahingestellt. Dann gibt es noch SpamBots, diese erklären sich schon durch den Namen von selbst. Und es gibt die CurationBots. Diese sind meistens von einer Community ins Leben gerufen worden. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich hier den @austroboost. Er legt ganz offen dar, nach welchen Kriterien er seine Votes verteilt. Ich habe diese Diskussion mit großem Interesse verfolgt und muss sagen, dass ich beide Seiten verstehe.

Argumente für die Nutzung waren z.B. die große User-Anzahl (ca. 1 ,16 Millionen Accounts) auf Steemit und die damit verbundene Menge an Posts. Hier wird es eben schwer für den eigenen Post Aufmerksamkeit zu erzielen. Und gerade als Newbie, der noch nicht gut vernetzt ist, bietet sich dann die Nutzung solcher Bidbots als Unterstützung an. Dabei kann man den finanziellen Aspekt unberücksichtigt lassen, denn in den meisten Fällen ist damit kaum etwas zu verdienen.

Argumente dagegen waren z.B., dass man die Nutzung der BidBots auch als Spam betrachten kann. Durch die Votes der Bots würde ein falsches Bild erzeugt und gute Artikel dadurch in den Hintergrund verdrängt werden. Guter Content, so die Argumentation, würde auf jeden Fall von der Steemit Community viele Upvotes erhalten und bräuchte keine Unterstützung durch kekaufte Upvotes.

Ich kann beide Argumentationen nachvollziehen und möchte meine Meinung dazu einmal zur Diskussion stellen.

Allgemein sehe ich die Verwendung von Bidbots, zumindest für neue Mitglieder, nicht so negativ. Ich gehe aber davon aus, dass sich der Einsatz nach einer gewissen Zeit nicht mehr lohnt und eher negativ von der Community bewertet wird. Nach einer Weile kann man mit den gesammelten Erfahrungen sicherlich mehr und mehr gute Artikel schreiben.

Aber was ist guter Content?
Nun, ich denke das ist sehr subjektiv und wird von Jedem anders bewertet. Für mich ist es guter Content, wenn mich ein Artikel fasziniert, amüsiert oder mein Wissen erweitert. Ich achte dabei nicht auf die vorhandenen Votes oder den Dollar-Wert. Was mich eventuell beeinflusst ist die angegebene Lesezeit. Ich muss zugeben, dass ich dann für sehr lange Artikel einen Link in meinen Bookmarks anlege um diese später zu lesen.

Wie werde ich auf einen Artikel aufmerksam?
Ich bin ein visueller Mensch und zunächst auf die verwendeten Bilder und Grafiken fixiert. Da ich sehr häufig Steempeak.com nutze, wird dieser Aspekt noch verstärkt. Ich habe dies in einem früheren Post schon erläutert. Auch eine gute Headline erzielt meine Aufmerksamkeit und rückt den Artikel in meinen Fokus.

All dies ist allerdings, wie schon gesagt, sehr subjektiv. Daher würde ich gerne erfahren, welche Aspekte für euch relevant sind um euch zum Lesen eines Artikels anzuregen. Es wäre sicherlich für neue Mitglieder eine Hilfe. Ich würde mich auch über Kommentare und Links zu guten CurationBots bedanken.

I followed this discussion with great interest and must say that I understand both sides.

Arguments for use were e.g. a large number of users (about 1.16 million accounts) on Steemit and the associated amount of posts. It will be difficult to get attention for your own post here. And just as Newbie, who is not yet well connected, then offers the use of such Bidbots as support. In doing so, one can disregard the financial aspect, because in most cases it is almost impossible to earn anything.

Arguments against it were for example that one can regard the use of the BidBots also as Spam. By the votes of the bots completely false impression is generated and good articles would thereby be pushed into the background. Good content, according to the argumentation, would in any case receive many upvotes from the Steemit community and would not need the support of any bought upvotes.

I can understand both arguments and would like to put my opinion for discussion.

Generally, I do not see the use of bidbots, at least for new members, as negative. But I assume that after a certain amount of time, it will not be worth the effort anymore and will be rated negatively by the community. After a while, you can certainly write more and more good articles with the experience.

But what is good content?
Well, I think that is very subjective and is rated differently by everyone. For me, it's good content when an article fascinates, amuses or extends my knowledge. I do not pay attention to the existing votes or the dollar value. What may affect me is the specified reading time. I have to admit that I then put a link in my bookmarks for very long articles to read them later.

How do I become aware of an article?
I am a visual person and initially focused on the images and graphics used. As I use Steempeak.com very often, this aspect is compounded. I have already explained this in an earlier post. Even a good headline gets my attention and puts the article into my focus.

All this, however, is, as I said, very subjective. Therefore, I would like to know which aspects are relevant to you in order to encourage you to read an article. It would certainly help new members. I would also like to thank comments and links to good CurationBots.
