The German Bundestag tightens the asylum laws
Detention pending deportation, electronic shackles and cell phone searches: The rules for deportation and the handling of asylum applicants have been tightened once again. The opposition and social associations heavily criticize these measures.
It has been simplified to deport rejected asylum applicants more quickly and more efficiently. The German Bundestag legislative package "to improve the enforcement of the compulsory departure". The Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere (CDU) defended the new measures. However, human rights organizations, social associations and the opposition complained about them and refer to a violation of the fundamental rights of the protection seekers.

Anyone who does not the right of residence, does not leave the country voluntarily and gives false information about their identity, will be compromised in their freedom of movement. Asylum applicants without a guaranteed residence will be forced to stay in the institutions for the first admittance until their asylum procedure is completed. The deportation pending detention for so called "threatening individuals", thought to be capable of serious crimes and terrorist attacks, is going to be extended and electronic shackles will facilitate their surveillance. The maximum duration of the deportation pending detention will be extended from four to ten days.
Particularly controversial: the Federal Agency of Migration and Refugees (BAMF) is allowed to analyze mobile phone data belonging to asylum applicants with no identity documents to identify them.
