RE: Coronavirus Shutdown Day 7 in Austria: Empty Trains, Gold and BTC, mass surveillance launched 😎
Government has started mass monitoring of mobile phone movement data [3]. This a bit problematic now. Above all, we have to make sure that such measures are stopped immediately after the shutdown. It is also questionable how they were able to implement the monitoring so quickly, it must have existed before.
The citation is to [2] not [3]. Great point that the monitoring must have already existing and is just being disclosed due to the pandemic and to discourage travel. I couldn't actually read the article (login-walled), but would be interested in any more information you can provide. Is the surveillance of cell phone tower pings such that airplane mode could avoid it?
Typo fixed, here is another article about that, yes, I think airplane mode should avoid that: https://netzpolitik.org/2020/zeig-mir-deinen-standort-und-ich-sage-dir-ob-du-vielleicht-krank-bist/
