Happy Victory Day! The eternal memory for the fallen! Monuments in Berlin
I want to show the Berlin monument to the Soviet army, which maybe, not everyone knows. Even more famous is the memorial complex at Treptow Park with a statue of a famous Soviet soldier holding a little girl in his arms.
But in the heart of the city, on the edge of the Tiergarten park near the Reichstag, there is another monument. More than 2,000 Soviet soldiers killed in the Battle of Berlin are buried here.
** To the right is the Reichstag dome. **
** The monument was opened on November 11, 1945. At the opening in front of the monument is a parade of Allied troops. **
** The sculptor L. Kerbel and V. Ye. Tsigal and architect N. V. Sergievsky created the monument project. **
On the high pedestal is the figure of a Soviet soldier.
** In the columns around the list of soldiers and officers who were killed. They only have 178 names from several thousand. On both sides of the pole are Soviet tanks.and weapons.Plaque on the fence with description in 3 languages. **
