Element Zero Logo Design in Affinity Designer
I was asked to create a new logo for a group known as "Element Zero", after much discussion it was decided that a diamond held symbolic relevance since the Element Zero gaming guild is very old and continues to from strength to strength.
The diamond was drawn using two shapes for each facet, but rather than being simply overlayed, the inner shape is actually cut out of the shape beneath it.
The inner shapes were given one transparency value, and the outer shapes a different transparency value.
Facets that form either the left or right side of the stone were duplicated and mirrored to ensure that the final design was symmetrical.
The transparency is important since the design will be used in an MMO computer game, and will be rendered onto items that have different background colors. I wanted the background color to actually affect the inner hue of the stone.
As a final touch, the "EZ0" initials were added to facets of the stone, and the font nodes were manually manipulated to give the letters perspective. This would have been much easier to achieve in Illustrator, which has build in perspective tools.
