The Green Float - DESIGN A CHARACTER CONTEST - Week 7 - Color Challenge

Hi everyone, today I want to share my entry for DESIGN A CHARACTER CONTEST - Week 7 - Color Challenge by @w0olf . As the title stated, the challenge is we need to use the color scheme given into our original character. Yeah... I am too late to submit my work. I cannot make it on time. I am so sorry about that. But still, I want to share this with you guys

About the artwork
Basically, its about tiny little girl floating. I consider her as fairy with his magic wand and also wing. Or else, I can tell you she symbolize as nature. Green and brown as land, yellow as stars blinking at the sky. I also make her floating because I want she look that she can controlling the world or the nature.

The process
I start with sketches, creating a chibi style girl and short hair. Well, I like short hair girl because the look nice, neat, and also look simple. For me, girl with short hair symbolize as person that strong and brave. Also that is suit with the characteristic that I want to put into my character which is mother of nature that have face to many tragic thing like pollution. I also wanna make her crying as symbolize she is sad with human attitude toward her. But she keep smiling as sign that she still love human.

Now it's time to put the color.

As the color palette given, I put the color into the character. I focus with green and yellow color because that symbolize the nature. So the color for the hair and also the outfit is quiet same. Then, I used the brown for the foot and the eyes of the character if you. I shade the color to make the color blend each other and also to create the gradient of the color.

Lastly, I add stars, leaves and more tear as well to bring the mood as I desire. Nothing much to say here. But I want to add, how I create the line effect at the color for the example the stars. I am using Paint Tool Sai, find effect bar at the bottom of texture menu at your left or your right. Then choose Fringe. Then you will get that thing. It is work so well if you want to create watercolor effect. Also add texture to watercolor or any paper you like. Then you will get a nice effect of water color with it.
