I have a few suggestions:

1. Have your living area point South, if you want the sun there. If you live in a very hot place, then living area should point East. If you live in a cold place, living area should be South or West.
   This includes a backyard if you have one, back patio, breakfast eating area, reading area.

2. Bedrooms can be on the north side, as they are frequently not used, except for sleeping, and so exposure is not as important. If you like to get up early, it's nice to have Eastern exposure for your bed, so you can get some early light coming in at dawn, to help you wake up. If you like to sleep in late, north side of house is a good spot.
