Hannam-Dong, an organic envelope

in #design7 years ago

At the edge of the motorway is a new urban landscape ... An undulating facade envelops the Hannam-Dong seat.

Hannam-Dong, a visual interaction
In South Korea, in Seoul, 104 Hannam Boulevard, is the Hannam-Dong headquarters. In an urban context where the intensity of traffic at the foot of the building plays an essential role, the architects of the agency The System Lab study the possible visual interaction between building and vehicle users. There is then an organic facade grafted to the building, with the objective of removing all unilateral communication from inside
outwards. Adjacent to the office space, balconies, conversational spaces that are both liberators of mind and engines of creativity, are delimited by an undulating envelope.

These balconies are perceived as a "floating park" to discover the city. The hull made up of triangular parametric modules leaves room for these spaces between them. The waves of the facade are repeated to differentiate the floors; although systematic, are intended to create irregularities. Mounted on the ground, the hull was made from steel molds that made it possible to construct the curved volumes in three dimensions, in which the concrete was poured. From the outside, as the eye moves, the experience changes radically, while inside the facade offers a play of shadow and light and sometimes penetrates into the workspaces.
