Logo Design completed: Abono, Steemit payment processing!

Sup guys, I'm back again with another Logo Showcase.

I don't know about you guys, but my steemit blog is quickly becoming a portfolio. Good thing too, because I used to have a portfolio, but it died due to server problems. By that time, I was pretty much shifting over to doing non-freelance work, and the need to bring back my portfolio just kinda died.

Anyway, I'm showing off my latest design. This time, I was commissioned by @emerge for my design services.

It was very interesting, as he needed a design for a starting up project called Abono. I don't have many details on what it's going to be about, or really, I'm not at liberty to disclose, but it will be a payment processing for steemit.

This logo design illustrates a really good point. Willingness to negotiate pricing. A lot of potential clients fish for pricing, and move on. Some potential clients WANT my work specifically but convince themselves that they will never have enough to afford my services, and so they promise to reach back to me, rather than just doing one simple thing. Negotiate.

While graphics design does cost was it costs, and prices are very justifiable, the simple fact of it is, I am human. I can be negotiated. If you have $50.00 and you need a logo design, and I like what your project is for, but is clearly something you should be paying $500.00 for. It's okay for me to take up that commission.

As long as I'm setting an expectation of: Look, this design costs $500.00 but I'm going to give it to you for just $50.00, because I want to invest in your project my time and services. That's not me de-valuating my market, or lowering my pricing standard. That's just me being a cool dude and in investing into potential new work. Doing something like that is a win/win, setting correct and meaningful valuation to my services, promoting myself, and helping out someone who doesn't have a big budget.
It's infinitely better than design contests, fiverr and shamelessly ripping off work.

So, for this project, I was to come up with an image mark that will help define the platform. Very basic work in terms of branding. But the very first step for @emerge to find the company identity.

It's supposed to be Sleek, professional, Modern, and illustrative to motion.

Incorporating the Letters of the name is a plus.

With the design brief in hand, I went off to do my usual sketching.

And I really did sketch this out. You're seeing 2 images of sketches that I did, but there are more that I did on my computer, but it's all vectorized.

I really wanted to do something with shapes of motion, like stripes indicating speed. But I also wanted the logo to be easy to remember, since that's always a good thing to help make a unique image mark.

The client really loved how I took an approach to the stripes, it helps give motion, and also has symbolic value to what their company is all about.

After that, it was all a matter of playing with the concept, roughly doodling things that could work well. And things that could be even better.

Eventually, that got us to this design.

The logo mark works. It's functional for their product and services. It incorporates goals set such as motion, simplistic and uniqueness. And we were able to translate it into a small icon as well for branding purposes.

Overall, it was a very good design, and though I completed this through a move, it did come out rather well. I hope this design will be used well.

Anyway guys, that's it for this logo showcase. I know I haven't done a logo freebie in a while, but when I do, I'll be factoring in everyone's upvotes comments and re-steems from my previous posts. So stay tuned for that one.

And as always guys, I love you steemit!
