Learning Sketchup - My Venture Into Design Softwares

in #design8 years ago

As an interior design student, I am also learning on how to work with softwares. One of them is Sketchup. The pictures below are of the first sample plan that I got to work on just to understand the basics and am still understanding as there is a lot to learn.

For me, introduction to this software was something very exciting because it was the first software that I got to know related to designing. To see a 2D design come to life is something really really cool! And that too with endless possibilities, from selection of bricks to fabrics, colors, finishes and so much more. There is a lot one can experiment in with this software, if ample time is given.

Hope to share more stuff with you guys. :)

Personally prefer Revit Architecture over Sketchup for it's BIM capabalities. However Sketchup is a good free alternative. Another software I tend to use to quickly mockup some interiors is Sweet Home 3D, which has the added advantage of being cross platform.

ahh , I see...I am a learner right now. Just trying to understand different platforms :)

Cool post! Good freeware does exist ;)

hehhe True :D

I use SketchUp quite often for any woodworking/renovation projects. It's amazing how fast you can put things together using precise measurement to see the finished product before you start. It's great for discovering problems you might have before you actually run into them.

yes! That's what i love about it, how instant you can get the desirable results! :)
