I WILL DEFEAT MY GOLIATH
READ: 1 Sm 17:32-33, 37, 40-51
Key Scripture: David said to Saul, “Your Majesty, no one should be afraid of this Philistine! I will go and fight him.”(1 Samuel 17:32)
THOUGHTS
There arose a Goliath against Israel, one who was monstrous in size and experienced in battles. He stepped across the battle line. Goliath continued to taunt the Israelite with his gigantic voice. Even the King lost his courage, and only fumbled around. In all his years of battles, he probably hadn’t encountered a being so overgrown like Goliath, and the thought of Goliath made him sick. Then, David emerged, ready to fight against Goliath. But the initial reaction from people around him was to advise him to go back, that he was just a boy. David never accepted their advice, because he could see something no one else saw. He trusted in the power of God. So, David stood out against Goliath and knocked him down, by God’s power. Sometimes, it is not by size or experience. God uses little things to shame the mighty. You are the one God will use to bring down the Goliath of your family. Just step out in faith. Believe in God’s power in you. That Goliath will fall through your prayer.
