DeepOnion news: 7th airdrop means welcome newcomers!

in #deeponion7 years ago (edited)
Another Friday arrived and [another distribution completed](https://deeponion.org/community/threads/7th-airdrop-completed.1388/). Unexpectedly though, the number of participants kept on falling till [281 people](http://deeponion.info/).

There were two main reasons for that:

  • Disqualifications – while some couldn’t reach the amount of 10 quality posts for the week, many people dumped their onions as the price headed for $4. In turn, this made the price fall to $1.58 as of today.
  • Dismissed applications – while the devs claimed to have been reviewing hundreds of applications received after reopening the signup process, [most of them were denied](https://deeponion.org/community/threads/pending-reviews-blacklisted-found-suspicious-activity.1067/), mainly due to accounts being idle for long time and/or low quality postings.
  • However, measures have been taken to favor the community.

While disqualification rules are important to fight against cheaters, the devs opened a topic in order to give dismissed participants a second chance. Their applications were reviewed and handled individually, asking them for several measures before acceptation (like satisfying the posting rule for 2 weeks). That topic is closed now – but will reopen most likely next Saturday again.

A non-qualifying user told me he was going to be an active member and accomplish the posting rule despite not having posted in the reconsideration thread. He stated he would do that when he got enough reasons to turn the scale into his side. That’s exactly what the devs want – a proactive social mass that follows the rules with the aim to improve the community.

    Want to join the drop?

If you meet the BCT account requirements (non-stolen account created prior to July 12th) then start posting right away. Follow the rules. Be an active member for 2 weeks, then send your application and ask for a reconsideration via the official channels if needed. Claim your stake now!

Thanks for reading! Please upvote, follow and resteem if you liked this post, and feel free to provide some feedback! If you wish to donate some onions you can do it here: DsfHxwTu2LEhdqjxu18RUnXNLsDHDNtkVk

DeepOnion looks like a good alternative for Monero and Dash (and other 'black coins'). While DeepOnion's current trait is the connection of wallets via the TOR network (so IP addresses are shielded from privy eyes), DeepOnion will really kick off with a new feature called 'DeepSend'.

The details of 'DeepSend' are still unknown but are believed to be some kind of transaction obfuscation (Monero and Dash have similar features).

The point is that DeepOnion would then combine both TOR connectivity build into the protocol together with anonymous features known from Monero and Dash. I suspect this will be a killer combination.
