Why your % drops each Friday - DeepOnion

Recently I have been explaining to people why their % has dropped, and its not for the reasons that they seem to think. Many people on the forums were blaming new members for this, thinking that the quantity of people who participate in the airdrop is somehow linked to the % that they recieve.

In a small way they are right - they do affect it, but in the opposite way to which they think. If we have one larger wallet with say 30,000 Onion in it, that will equate to a weight of 10,000 + 20,000*1.2 - so a total of 34000 Onion weight.

If 20,000 of those onions are sold to 200 people who each hold 100, the total weight is now only 30,000 despite there being 201 people holding the onions now, so the pool weight in total drops meaning your own onions are stronger.

So the best way to view it is like this,If you hold 10,000 onions and you do not sell any, and the total in existence is 10,000,000 (Random easy number) this means that as a % you hold 1/1000th.

Therefore if we ignore the support factors for now, you will get 1/1000th of the 225,000 onions, so 225.

It dosent matter if there is one guy holding the other 9,990,000 or 1000 guys holding 9,990 each your onion drop will be the same.

Now, each week as the total increases, your weight increases too.

So in this example, you now have 10,225 onions out of a total 10,225,000.

You will still have 1/1000th of the total and will next week still get 225 (1/1000th of 225,000)
Again, its not linked to the new members.

So the percentage will go down every week, as a total of your holdings,
Ill use the figures above again as the example.

The first figures you have 10,000 and get 225, so you get a 2.25% Airdrop, happy days.

The next week, you have 10,250 and get 225, your airdrop is now 2.19% - People will now be asking "Where is my other 0.06%" but it hasnt been taken by anyone, its just that the Total onions in existence have risen from 10,000,000 to 10,250,000

By the time there are 20,000,000 onions, you will still hold 1/1000th of them if you dont sell, so will have 20,000 now - however as a % that 250 a week is now only 1.125%.

Again this will happen if there are 5 of us in the airdrop, or 50.
