What Does Decentralization On The Steem Blockchain Mean To You? Here’s What It Means To Me.
The only thing that can take away your individual freedom is people themselves. Decentralization means freedom from others having that ability.
There is “freedom to” and “freedom from” and both are of equal importance... although one aspect of freedom comes before the other.
“Freedom from” always precedes “freedom to” but those centralized powers, people with big wigs, would have us distracted from the power we collectively hold in our hands.
They want to pull the wool over our eyes and pull us apart... Fooling us into thinking that “freedom to” is all that matters... if we, for even a second, believe this to be “truth”... if we become enamoured by the version of “freedom” that these people are selling we miss the empowering fact that foundational to all the freedoms we desire is the “freedom from”.
Decentralization equals up to a version of freedom that is founded on a “freedom from” first and a “freedom to” second and not the other way around.
If you want your voice to be heard... if you want the ability to speak your truth to the world... if you want a chance to change the future of how social media connection and communication works... then we are going to have to get it clear in our minds as to what freedom actually means to us... and fundamental to that self-discovery is going to have to be a wisdom that understands exactly what it is that we need to be “free from.”

That was very well said and very deep Wil, and also very true once we start thinking of it, start by removing the limits and then decide what we want to use that freedom for, thanks a lot, and stay awesome.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post @flaxz. I think you have a grasp as to the meaning of my words... Everything flows from a "freedom from"; "freedom to" is an illusion without its foundation. I'm looking forward to growing and developing on a truly free Steem Blockchain... Without that freedom nothing is worth building. I, along with the rest of the Steem Community, are eagerly watching how this all continues to unfold. So far what I have seen is encouraging... But we have a lot more work ahead of us because Freedom is never Free.

So @blocktrades is creating a duplicate chain on the side to insure against any sideways moves? I think as insurance that's prudent although I am a firm believer that now is the time to demonstrate the communities resolve and strength.
I have been thinking a lot about how we can do that... and I have also been thinking about buy in. It's a now or never sort of thing... We can breath life into this chain... But it's going to take us wanting it to happen.
Personally... I am continuing to build my entire business (model) on the Steem Blockchain. 100% Commitment and Confidence.
Yeah it seems that most of the community witnesses are onboard that initiative, and the Steemit employees that left, plus even more developers, let's see what happens.

Excellent post 👏, freedom is really something wonderful and I love the angles from which you look at it.
We truly need to be free in all aspects. I can compare it to the eagle, free to fly into our God intended destinies. No one to tell us where to go, control our speed or altitude.
We accomplish all that we were meant to be at the fullest level of freedom 💯.
No need to seek another person's opinion or permission or even guidance.

Yeah Eric! It's not just about the ability to turn content/information/digital products into crypto... It's about the underlying freedoms we have worked and sacrificed so much for. If we wanted the same centralized experience as we have on FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc. then why would we even bother to do anything new and revolutionary on the Steem Blockchain? There's really no point in being here on the Steem Blockchain without it maintaining it's decentralized status. It's something worth fighting for... and that's the thing about freedom... Freedom isn't free. There's always a price. In the case of Steem... The price is worth every day and dollar spent. It's time for all of us to step up our efforts to kick those sock puppets to the curb. The world is watching. Now matters more than ever.
