The Swan Family Seems To Be In Mourning

Okay, so half of that title above is probably a "projection" but see, am used to seeing them all five - together .. so when I decided to go for a stroll this afternoon (which actually ended up in swan gazing) I couldn't help but wonder where the other kid was because it's just the four of them floating on that pea soup.

A neighbor walking the dog passed by and bid me hi so I blurted, one's missing. She looked under the bridge because I couldn't since I was on it and confirmed it wasn't just under it. "No wonder they look like "zero energy" today, they must be in mourning cause normally, they swim towards me but the dad just looked up and the other three didn't budge.; " I said back thinking - maybe I shouldn't have said that ..

She went further walking her dogs and I was left alone swan gazing. I cooed and tried to call the dad but he just ignored me then I realized he was drowsing. Here's the proof - click here to watch the video.

The rest joined him so I went on my stroll and along the way, I decided to take a different route, one that would take me to the grocery where I could buy them bread to feed on my way back.

I came across the same neighbor who looked for the other baby swan under the bridge and her dog came running to me barking hi ... She asked me whether I stayed longer and if the other baby swan finally went back. I told her I did stay a bit but left them still four and she blurted out "hopefully no one run him over otherwise that would really be mean". I agree !!! I saw the whole family getting out of the mere in front of my house and crossing the road this morning and I notice they were just four. I thought they were a different family but obviously - not.

Where's the other guy? Was he indeed ran over? Did he die? Were the other four just sleepy or in mourning? I wrote it up there that the later is just my projection because I was the whole day yesterday.

I'm in mourning .. over my grandfather ... but it was more of the 7 year old girl in my head - is in mourning. She haunts me on a yearly basis - makes me cry like a bully. I am aware that I have no reason to cry but my heart just somehow explodes with the thought of it. Sounds like drama doesn't it? I wish it was so I won't have to wake up with frog eyes which you get from wiping your eyes a lot, the next day.

IMHO my gramps is not really dead, he's just asleep or at least I was told so when I haven't discovered that God has a direct line. The soul doesn't die - is what I believe in - just the body does. My soul feels the pain, its the one that cries and the one that mourns. Having written that made me think on the way to the grocery ... I really have to take every plant and animals and any living thing in consideration - cause the fact that they are alive means - they have souls, too. Don't get me wrong though, I believe in YOLO.

I had a hard time choosing which bread to buy because reading their ingredients labels made it so hard to make a decision. Having seen that most of the ingredients are the same I just took the round ones with raisins in it because I love that bread (I don't eat that often though- gluten!!!) and you should give something you yourself would eat even to them animals imho

When I got back, this was what I found. Can you guess which filter I used to make these pics look a bit terrestial? More peeps were swan gazing, some of their pets, too. How many fouls do you see on the picture below?

I gave them all three of it and saved one for me for later but the dad got greedy and took most of it. He's the biggest among four though. He's up to my shoulder when standing. He's really huge but never agressive. Click here to watch the video.

I'm still burning up so I went back home because even though I was wearing my winter coat for the first time today - it's really really cold today - my hands were starting to sting from the cold and I really want to fully recover from this flu. They've set the winter time at 3am in the EU this morning and it's but right. Though fallen leaves still abound - the wind that kissed my cheeks isn't an autumn wind.

On the way back home, the sky looked like so. I tucked my camera back too soon in my winter coat's pocket and missed out on birds flying on a V line probably heading South perhaps cause it's still warm there. I guess those who will be going to the Steem Fest won't be needing any autumn wear yet but am not a weather reporter.

When I got home my husband said, I took a long walk today so I told him I actually did not and I told him the sad news and that they look like in mourning but he said some of them leave the family early like I did and that I am in mourning and he hugged me tight.

Is that true? Do some baby swans really leave the nest early?
Do you think that animals, too do mourn or get sad for their loss of a family member?

This content's 100% mine. I took the pics with my Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 and used one of its filter. Have you guessed which one?

Dear @englishtchrivy.

What a thought-full post.....Swans are one of the most beautiful creatures.....one never tires of looking at them.

I can only imagine that one of them was ready to go.....they are God's creatures...He knows what the swan's status is and we know the One who knows. ^_^

The inverted colour is a lovely touch.....a negative app?....idk.

It is true..... soul life never dies....

Wishing you all the best mon ami......A bientot.

hahaha it suddenly feel like it's weird
I guess, I love seeing them around plus they always visit the mere in front of my house so i got closer but where I came from we don't have them so it must be that - I like them a lot ^ ^
plus last year they followed me around hahaha I almost let them in my backyard to pet them hahahah
yes, it's a negative filter on my phone

am good :)
just busy now and have to attend to some things before I could get back to the normal posting phase for now am just returning ups i've been pretty late :D

I think some of them do leave early. We have a big family of them near us and last year they went down by 1 twice before they all left :0)

Is it an x-ray filter?

ahoy!!! ffff~~~.. omg!!!! chico!! sorry, sorry, I forgot to drop by your page last time :(
in my defense I was in a hurry

okay - if it's true he just went stowing away hahah then that's good news :)

am really loggin out now

geesh how many times did i type this hahaha

Lol, I hope you did log out and got some sleep! :0)

Beautiful pictures of the swans, hope that the one who is not there just left the others.
Here in Norway there are many swans that are overwintering.
But there are also many swans flying to warmer areas.
They usually fly at night and hear their call cry in the night sky

thank you @xpilar
we got plenty of them here
I have never seen them fly at night
I want to ^ ^
what's winter like out there? pitchblack?

Hi @ englishtchrivy
It's getting dark early, so the days are shorter now in winter.
And it gets colder and the frost comes.
I prefer to have the warm summer days and not so happy in the winter here.

Nice that you could visit the swans but that water....yuck!

hahahaha ^ ^
laughed at your reaction about the water (thanks to making me lol)

they're just algae or maybe not .. they look like clover leafs but then maybe baby lotus plants or some baby lilies :D

it's like that every autumn and then clear again in spring I don't know why :D

What a beautiful story, Although a sad one. I actually don't know if swans leave early; Maybe they do. Then again, when something terrible happened, think of it like you think of your Granddad, the physical body may not be alive, but the soul is still somewhere, maybe even experience a much better 'life' than the one one earth. Not sure about swimming in this pea soup is so nice :)

thanks
i think it must be the later ... :(
i still see four till now
oh well.. it must be the pea soup
maybe someone needed something to eat ? noooo!!!

Let's assume this little one got his or her own life.

i thought you may be right when i saw the first few with their heads more down but then i saw the last one with their heads up and i am not so sure.

am neither :(

Water looks like a green carpett! If you feed the swans, you still hear a flowing nose :-)

I believe that every living being mourns.
Get well

thank you
yes, they do eat like swines - but it's the water that makes noise I guess

I think they do - cause I've seen it on dogs too
btw, I replied on your last reply, sorry I couldn't make it last night
am off really off

Yes have seen and thank you for answer and a bee also needs a break :-)
Goodnight dear Ivy

Perhaps the little swan got tired of swimming in the awful water and went looking for new digs...They do sometimes leave the family early, depending on when they hatched.

Excellent photos and very beautiful swans! You are right, now it's cold to all :) Thanks @englishtchrivy

thank you ..
it is brrrrrrr ~~~

Perhaps he was indeed old enough to leave the nest, as they say. I like to think so. Kids grow up and leave. So without Googling swan behavior patterns, I choose to believe they simply miss him rather than mourn him.

I hope you're right
hey, no post tonight?
keep posting and please send my regards to @simba
I haven't seen him in a while either .. I hope he's okay
nighty .. am off to bed

Nah. Another night without a post. Too much workshit. As for @simba , I've been pressuring him to return, and just this minute finished talking to his wife about doing a podcast about polyamory for steemit. :)

:D it's alright .. we can't if we can't ;)

i hope he comes back I miss his funny :D
am really out ta here

If I am still awake after finishing workstuff, I will try and post something short. We'll see.
