Fantastic colour game in the morning skysteemCreated with Sketch.

in #dawn6 years ago

Today in the early six o'clock in the morning, sky and clouds looked like this from Rubbestadneset on Bømlo.
The photos are taken against the sky by mountains in the east towards Stord.
On some of the pictures, one can see the silhouette of a crow against the sky. On others, one can see the wind turbines on Fitjar.
Contours in the landscape with houses, pine trees and hills come nicely towards the dramatic tones of that sky in shades of yellow, brown and red.

In another comment, I may have an explanation fortheses special colours.

Great shots, that was a glorious sunrise.

Thanks for your comments about this sunrise @Brian
In the comment below you can read about a possible explanation of these beautiful colours.

Thanks for the explanation

I have never seen such a sky. I saw a yellow sky, but the colors were not so saturated. I have a hunch about the reason for this color. I am not sure about this, but perhaps it is. Recently, I heard in the news of Moldova that, from the Sahara desert, a huge dust storm is moving. A hazard code has been announced. The mass of sand particles in the air. For the first time, I saw the consequences of this last year in Moldova. All the land, plants, cars, rooftops, were covered with reddish dust.
But this is from the field of geography, but if we talk about your photographs, they are great! All pictures without exception, my Dear friend @Siggjo!

Yes, particles in the air can produce colours in the sky and clouds @Barski

This phenomenon occurs in the area of sand particles in the air.
This will naturally be most prevalent in dry areas where wind can blow up and dust in the air.
I would think that in such cases sunset and sunrise could be more colourful.

However, I don't think dust particles or sand particles are the main reason for the colours in this sunrise.
In the western part of Norway, we are not familiar with so much dust or sand particles in the air so the reason for the colours could have another explanation.
However, I believe that the fact that we are so far north in Norway may have an influence on the colours.

Something else that influences changes in colours is that in the morning and evenings, the sun's rays have to go through a more significant part of the atmosphere; thus the sum of particles will be more significant than when the sun is higher in the sky.

This effect is particularly significant at higher latitudes, and sunset and sunrise in Norway are often beautiful.
But not every day is alike, some days, beautiful pictures give others more ordinary.

I also refer to this link which can explain the phenomenon.

Maybe it's sand from Sahara @Barski

I have travelled on holiday to Northern Norway to Andøya.
There I met people who have talked about the beautiful sunsets that have been there in the last couple of evenings.
They have read and heard that there should be sand from the Sahara that has been transported with a southern wind all the way up here.
Then probably the explanation you have suggested is the reason for the amazing colours that are now.
They are the yellow and partly brownish colours that may be due to this sand from the Sahara
I think the beautiful red tones, which are the natural colours, are those made of the typical atmosphere.
So I think your explanation is the right one for these unique colours.
Many thanks @Barski
