(Un)Successful DDos attack on Dash Masternode network!
Yesterday the 7th of Mars, someone or a bigger group of people was trying to harm / bring the dash network down with a major ddos attack.
"In a DDoS attack, the incoming traffic flooding the victim originates from many different sources – potentially hundreds of thousands or more. This effectively makes it impossible to stop the attack simply by blocking a single IP address; plus, it is very difficult to distinguish legitimate user traffic from attack traffic when spread across so many points of origin."
So the attacker's where trying to slow down / shutdown around 4000 Dash Masternode´s that was up and running at the start of the attack. Since there were so many diffrent ip adresses to attack, the ddos attack didn't make much of a success even tho it hade around couple of thousands diffrent computers bringing the attack of the network.
About 100 Dash masternodes were affected by the attack, estimated 2.5 % of the totalt dash network. Some of them wen't down for a short period of time and some of them were just slower than usual. Still as far as I know, no group has taken responsibility of the attack.
The attack highlighted quickly and it soon came up with a solution.
So to sum it all, the attack had a very small impact and demonstrated how strong the Dash network is!
These few masternode owners who were affected, were updating their servers and everything was like normal again.
The event has received very little media attention. Therefore I decided to write about it now.
Dash has once again demonstrated how confident and successful the currency is.

It's nice to hear about unsuccessful DDOS at temps now and then.
If we listened only to mainstream media we'd believe there was an army if uber-hackers incapable of failing just around the corner, just waiting for us...
Nice to see proof that a well build system can indeed endure such attacks without problem :)
Yeah it sure was some good advertising for Dash. Now people know how stable the network is! And the unknown attacker might not be so happy at this moment :D
