STEEM BLOCKCHAIN - How Do We Define Success?
I have been blogging on Steem since May 2016. It has been a wild ride, it's changed my life and the life of so many others. It remains, for me, the most exciting thing to ponder about. So many people are creating businesses and projects on top of it. To date, SteemProjects.com has a directory of 382 apps, sites and tools build for it's community.
Beyond Steemit.com, Busy and Others...
Steem has a lot of users that mostly understand the Steem blockchain as Steemit.com or Busy.org. It's understandable since it's difficult to abstract a technology out of a context like a website.
But it would be an error to think that if Steemit.com becomes a top 50 website that the Steem Blockchain succeeded in its mission. The vision is much bigger and more all-encompassing then most people think.
Steem - The Token Layer of The Internet of Content
My vision of what Steem looks like when it reached its full potential is this:
Wherever you go online, no matter what website you go on, publishers and the people who comment can get rewarded with tokens.
That means that Steem is not only a collection of fancy UIs and apps. It means that it is fully integrated into the infrastructure of the internet.
I will repeat this again: Full Integration Should Be The Goal.
I'm talking Wordpress sharing plugins like AddToAny, a Disqus like comment widget, IFTTT integration, themes for Wordpress, Joomla and even Tumblr.
At that point, the ranking and traffic of a single website won't matter. The content of the internet would have a permanent backup on the blockchain for anyone to see...all monetized and tokenized.
Integration is well understood by Facebook, Twitter and Google...but completely ignored by reddit or medium, this is why they will never be as big. If you have a blog or a website, you MUST integrate with Google, Facebook and Twitter. Otherwise you are losing an opportunity to reach out to your audience. The goal of Steem shouldn't be any different. If you have a blog, we have to make it foolish NOT to integrate us into your content strategy.
STEEMPRESS Is Part Of The Solution
SteemPress is the first project I've encountered that is working on integrating with a major content publishing platform. That is a big deal since Wordpress is 30% of all websites on the web. They are working on a 2-way integration that will allow comments, upvotes and everything else to be integrated. It's a huge task and I hope the community will rally together to vote their witness when they decide to launch one. Make sure to follow their account on Steem @steempress
But I hope SteemPress won't be the only one pushing integration. There is so much work to be done on that side that no one team can do it all.
Conclusion
Please share below what you think are good places where the Steem blockchain should be integrated. I'm curious to know since I'm currently working at learning how to code and I'm looking for integration projects. If you have another definition of success please let me know.
Posted from my blog with SteemPress : http://dappcentral.io/review/other/steem-success/
Nice post , i agree with you that "Full Integration Should Be The Goal."
at this stage users are not really sharing info form different source in steemit , must of the users rather to create unique content here maybe steemit need to look in different way on content that been share from different source online
Tokenizing the internet is what I’d like to see too. I think Ned and leadership have a great vision. I think in the future Steem will be much different then what it’s known as today.
Thanks for blowing my mind. This is exactly what is needed to help Steem break free of the synchronicity in price swings with Bitcoin.
Worldwide web integration of Steem (or any other cryptocurrency) is what is needed to generate the transaction demand required to overcome the speculation demand of the shortsellers in the crypto market. I'm thinking of the CBOE here.
Steem cannot be dependent on any one application or website for its success. Worldwide use of the Steem API and integration with it can help to sever the link between the price of Steem and the price of Bitcoin.
Steem blockchain as the "accounting back-end" of the Internet ... indeed, that should be the goal, that is the vision !
Hi @cryptoctopus, Sorry it's off topic...What happened to your project Steemgar?
it wasn't my project, after months of giving away most of my upvotes to it, it didn't seem to take off and have other people enthousiastic about it.
I had a very logical but harsh discussion with Igster for the game was lagging really hard and people were complaining about it. Instead of fixing the issue, he started telling the game users to play some other game (s) if their game was lagging. Or another tactic was to temporarily ban the selective people who were commenting about lag in the chat box. I gave my feedback to him and I'm giving you the feedback about this game: The game has the worst ever management and I'm sure it's for that same reason that not a single player is playing this game anymore. It was a phenomenal opportunity not only for you guys to earn some hefty profits in the long run, but also to bring new users to STEEMIT and as a result, STEEMIT management could have delegated the game management reasonable amount of SP. This SP could be used to reward the players. Far more rewards could bring far more players. What a waste!
I recommend steemit to start micro payments to increase its utility among normal masses. Lets make steemit, a global payment system to buy and sell utilities.
@cryptoctopus you are a son of BITCH, I really do not understand what the fucking wrong with you using always giving me a negative vote. I am really sorry steemian for useing foul language.
Hi crypto,
"I'm curious to know since I'm currently working at learning how to code and I'm looking for integration projects.
Perhaps, your above statement will come true which you can learn enough to code the integration projects on your own."
This would be a great accomplishment for you.
Maybe with other block chains that are coping the similar path of steemit , or social media websites
sounds very interesting especially because it's not too effective the usual posts of the links to my wordpress site posts here in posts on Steem, bcos is no one is checking them - Steem is too close to itself platform in terms of to follow the links to something external.
will check SteemPress, thank you very much !
Yes, but the backlinks from Steemit and other similar front-ends are worth more than you think. Keep linking even if nobody is reading :-D
That's a very good point money back, they even become DoFollow once a certain threshold of upvotes as been reached :-)
Check out their discord channel, they are working on making way better so that there is a seemless integration between the blockchain and Wordpress.
