Moving from Discord To A STEEM Based Chat dApp
You might have missed it ( because we are all in discord) the new shiney tool created by Steem Engine Tools developer @cadawg he best describes it as, A Chat App, Truly on Steem.
Come INTO Chat and Say HI to ME!
I don't expect everyone to flock away from Discord right away ,but we need to start discussing how we keep some of our engagement inside our own Steem Eco-system. Enter in Decentralised Steem Chat. It's an early Alpha, but gives us a glance of what we all could be doing in the near future.
Like Tribes, we will have ability to establish what I like to call chat tribes . You could "claim" your channel inside the chat perhaps. You could either opt in to have it decentralized ( straight of the chain) , yet mod'd still , or semi-centralized .
You probably could apply some pretty cool rules and reward people accordingly , like the following metrics: daily activity, daily active user time,reputation and may other cool reward rules you could set-up. All this using your own token/SMTs as the reward token.
All this is to help improve the engagement of users on the Steem blockchain. The more of us going to a Steem dapp, vs. another piece of the software like discord the better we are all off.

Well, it is on the Steem Blockchain via Custom-JSON. Hopefully, some rewarding mechanism can be added and other various cool things to blend us right into the feel of the Steem community.
I chatted with @cadawg when he announced it. I think it is a great idea and something that is sorely needed.
We need to operate under the decentralized blockchain model as much as we can even if it is not 100% needed all the time.
It is a way of life that we should try to permeate throughout all areas.
Yes, I was surprised this aspect of chat wasn't taken more seriously already (I know there were a few attempts at it).
I'm in the same boat as you to practice what we preach and decentralized just about anything at this point. Not saying everything needs it ,but you can do a hybrid approach of offering a bit of both.

Yes! basically, the current Tribes will have this integrated to help it gain traction then inside the dApp there could be a way to create "chat tribes" channels inside the dApp too. Having it perhaps in our profiles on SteemIt UI would be pretty cool.
Bout damned time someone was able try and get people away from discord. It is the most assinine thing that we need to go off chain to find out info about Steem and the various tribes. What is the point of the system when you are forced out of it to get info about it? Thank you for your efforts!

Right? @flemingfarm give thanks to @cadawg is the master creator behind it! I agree. I think there is a big opportunity to get people inside the system and still being in touch with the pulse of STEEM.

Steem.chat is kind of junkie and nothing to do with Steem per say.

So tribes are already over on SteemPeak. Chat isn't yet.
