Calling for vigilantes in a race baiting rant responding to a correct verdict isn't a "dogwhistle" that could inspire violence. It's a direct and deliberate call for violence.
It's also speech that I'll condemn in regard to the speaker being wrong both factually and morally; but, of course, I defend his right to say it.
Now, if he posts Penny's address, and tells people to go get him, that's not too different from taking a contract out on somebody. That would touch where I draw the line.
Still, this is, and should be protected speech under the First Amendment. It should also apply to all sides.
