What's your favorite Anti-War/Peace-Movement Song? [Win SBD]
Dear Community,
I was sad to see that the #danceweekend by @uwelang had been cancelled today due to the recent bomb-attacks in Syria. The alleged terror-attack in Stockholm today might be another reason for some to stop dancing and being happy.
On the other hand, if we freeze in fear and stop doing what we love, the evil powers will win!
So I suggest we just change the topic of the #danceweekend to post songs about peace/love/positivity. Like this:
The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love?
Also anti-war/protest songs like the following are an option:
Edwin Starr - War (What is it good for?)
Please add your favorite song in the comments to help lighten up the darkness!
As a thank you for participation I will giveaway 1 SBD for the comment with the most reactions (votes/replies).
Fortunate Son
Thanks for participating! I don't know that one yet. Would be helpful to post a link to a youtube/vimeo-video to be able to listen to it right in the thread.
by CCR! 🎹
Great addition! Thanks for putting up a video-link!
I know the band but had forgotten about the title!
The 60s are a great ressource for this kind of music :-)
How about this? A bit angrier:
System Of A Down - Boom!
System were awesome. 90's metal had something to say. Puts the meaningless junk (mostly) post 2000's to shame
Yes, I really love their combination of energy and meaning! I'm not really up to date with actual metal-music. But I'd say, it's time for some young musicians raising their voices.
Fuck-in-ay man.
The Cranberries - Zombie
I love that one!! Thanks for sharing!
This song was meant as a song to advocate the survival of the anarchist free-city Christiania in Copenhagen. It's a great anti-war song even though it wasn't meant for war... here with Spanish subtitles (all I could find).
Fucking crazy shitheads doing that in Stockholm...
I've heard about Christiania, a very interesting project. Is it still alive?
Unfortunately I neither speak danish nor spanish... Would like to understand the lyrics.
I second that :-(
Yes, it is and have been a part of Copenhagen for more than 40 years, no one is going to close it down . Copenhagen would be a war-zone. Even peaceful me would take to the streets.
The chorus goes: you can't kill us, you can't kill us, because we are a part of yourself. It has this fine logic that if you kill of half the population you will be half a human. Just look at the Turkish people who can't come over the terrible killing of the Armenians, they can't even mention it so many years after. They burned and scared themselves. Goes for all killings, no matter where...
Wow, that are really deep thoughts. Truely worth thinking about. I often see people denying there darker thoughts and fears. That also often leads to living a half-life... and killing your full potential. Maybe it's comparable.
Yes, the song-writer hit on something with this chorus - somehow intuitivly comparable to a lot of life's aspects.
Bomb, bomb, bomb...bomb Iran
Video link doesn't work... Do you have another link?
Either topic missed or I just don't get the irony. Thanks anyway.
peace thru superior firepower.
More likely: Peace through blowing up the planet. Eternal peace!

"My Idea of Fun!" by the sagely anarchists of The Wingnut Dishwashers Union
Thanks for this addition. I confess, that I had to google this one, too. Some interesting thoughts there:
Full lyrics here
