IndonesiaThe word seudati comes from the Arabic shahada or shahadatain, which means testimony or confession. In addition, some say that the word seudati comes from the word seurasi which means harmonious or compact. Seudati began to be developed since Islam entered into Aceh. Islamic advocates use this dance as a medium of propaganda to develop the teachings of Islam. This dance is quite developed in North Aceh, Pidie and East Aceh. This dance is presented by telling about various kinds of problems that occur so that people know how to solve a problem together. At first the dance seudati known as a coastal dance called ratoh or ratoih, which means to tell, is shown to start the game of cockfighting, or exhibited for revelers when the harvest season arrives on the night of full moon.
In ratoh, it can be told various things, from the sad story, the joy, the advice, to the exciting stories. Ulama who develop Islam in Aceh generally come from Arab countries. Therefore, the terms used in seudati generally come from Arabic. Among them is the term Sheikh which means leader, Saman which means eight, and Syair which means nyayian.

THE ORIGIN OF SEEDS SEUDATI
Seudati dance was originally grown in Gigieng village, Simpang Tiga sub-district, Pidie district, led by Tam Tam. Then progressed to Didoh village, Mutiara sub-district, Pidie district led by Syeh Ali Didoh. Seudati Dance comes from Pidie district. Seudati is one of Aceh's traditional dances that has been preserved and is now a coaching art to the elementary school level.
Seudati is danced by eight men as the main dancer, consisting of one leader called the shaykh, one of the maids of the shaykh, two servants on the left called apeetwie, one assistant behind the so-called apeet tub, and three aides Ordinary. In addition, there are also two singers as a dance accompanist called aneuk syahi.
This type of dance does not use a musical instrument, but it only carries some movements, such as clapping hands to the chest and hips, pounding feet to the ground and finger strumming. The movement follows the rhythm and tempo of the song being sung. Some of the movements are quite dynamic and lively with vigor. However, there are some movements that seem stiff, but actually show the strength and courage of the dancers. In addition, clapping to the chest and stomach impressed the arrogance as well as the knight.
