THE ORIGIN OF SEEDS SEUDATI
Seudati dance was originally grown in Gigieng village, Simpang Tiga sub-district, Pidie district, led by Tam Tam. Then progressed to Didoh village, Mutiara sub-district, Pidie district led by Syeh Ali Didoh. Seudati Dance comes from Pidie district. Seudati is one of Aceh's traditional dances that has been preserved and is now a coaching art to the elementary school level.
Seudati is danced by eight men as the main dancer, consisting of one leader called the shaykh, one of the maids of the shaykh, two servants on the left called apeetwie, one assistant behind the so-called apeet tub, and three aides Ordinary. In addition, there are also two singers as a dance accompanist called aneuk syahi.
This type of dance does not use a musical instrument, but it only carries some movements, such as clapping hands to the chest and hips, pounding feet to the ground and finger strumming. The movement follows the rhythm and tempo of the song being sung. Some of the movements are quite dynamic and lively with vigor.
