Cafe Review 美食推送: Bare Witness

Last weekend my friend came all the way from Germany. On Saturday we took them out to brunch. We wanted somewhere with view, so we drove around Rhodes looking for a nice café. And we found a new café that opened up recently by the Wentworth Point pedestrian bridge. The name is Bare Witness.

上周我大学最好的朋友和他太太从德国过来悉尼旅游和看望我们。有道是有朋至远方来，不亦悦乎。我们礼拜六约好一起吃早午餐。因为下午还安排了另外的活动，就想找个风景不错又不太远的餐厅，可以一边吃一边聊也放放松欣赏下悉尼的风景。于是我们去了Rhodes，一家新开的靠近步行桥的餐厅叫Bare Witness。

We chose a table outside where we got a nice view. We were essentially right next to the water. It was a nice day too and we get a nice view of the water as well as the buildings across the bay.

我们选了一张临水的桌子。天气非常不错，我们的位置可以看到步行桥的全景，还可以欣赏水景。

The menu was quite extensive, they offered breakfast dishes as well as lunch dishes till late afternoon. It was great to see a lot of healthy options, as well as some less healthy but mouth- watering dishes (for example Southern Fried Chicken with Apple Waffles and syrup). We ordered four dishes: A Poke Bowl, which is a raw fish salad bowl, a Croissant Benedict, a Fruit Salad, and a Fish and Chip for the kid. We also ordered some drinks: a green tea latte, and an ice white coffee. The drinks came first. The Green Latte looks pretty artsy and comes with a small cookie, but otherwise quite standard. The ice white coffee was not bad, cool and creamy, perfect for the warm morning.

菜单选择很多，从早餐到正餐都有。当中很多健康的选择，当然也有些或许没有那么健康但是非常诱人的菜式，好像美式炸鸡配苹果松饼加糖浆。我们点了四道菜式：刺身色拉，羊角包班尼迪克蛋，水果色拉和炸鱼薯条。另外点了绿茶拿铁和冰咖啡。饮品很快就上来了。绿茶拿铁上的拉花图案很有艺术感，还有一个小的曲奇饼，但并无过人之处。冰咖啡也不赖，香滑冰爽，正适合夏天的中午。

When our dishes came out we were all at awe at how pretty the dishes were. The Poké Bowl was particularly interesting. It was essentially a Salad Bowl with a Japanese twist. Fresh Salmon sashimi cut in pieces, combined with Edamame, wakame seaweed shreds, avocado cream, Broccolini and brown rice, garnished with bright orange salmon roes. All the ingredients were very fresh, and the crunches of the fresh vegetables goes perfectly with the soft and flavoursome fish and avocado. A deliciously healthy breakfast that leaves one refreshed and satisfied.

不过当我们所点的菜式端上来后，大家都有些被惊艳到了。其中的刺身色拉非常特别，是一道结合的日本元素的西式色拉。新鲜的三文鱼切成块，佐以毛豆米，海带丝，牛油果泥，小西兰花和糙米，用橙红的三文鱼籽做点缀。所有的食材都很新鲜，爽脆的蔬菜和软糯的鱼肉配搭出来的口感极佳。非常健康可口。

The Croissant Benedict was another interesting combination, with traditional English muffins replaced by a freshly baked croissant. A soft, perfectly boiled egg was placed on the croissant with delicious prosciutto, and then covered with creamy hollandaise. Onion jam was placed on the side for extra flavour, and the garnishing fried onions added another twist to this delightful remake of the classic dish.

羊角包班尼迪克也很有创意。用新鲜酥脆的羊角包代替了传统的英式松饼，煮得刚好的水煮蛋和意式火腿配上香滑的荷兰酱，看着就十分诱人。加上洋葱酱和油葱酥，把这传统英式早餐给予全新的演译。

The fish and chip’s presentation was stunning. I have never seen a fish and chip’s served in a bamboo basket before. Flathead was used for the fish, giving a firm, meaty taste. The beer batter was good, and replacing thick cut chips with shoestring fries was a win for the kids. The tartar sauce, put inside a paper boat, was good too.

炸鱼薯条的亮相实在出乎意料。我从来没有见过将炸鱼薯条放在中式的竹蒸笼里并加上翠绿豆苗的点缀，瞬间让人觉得炸鱼薯条脱离了油腻，顿时清爽起来。牛秋鱼肉质紧实，口口是肉。包裹鱼肉的面浆，由啤酒调至而成，炸过后松脆可口。另外配鱼的鞑靼酱，置于小纸船内，不光美味可口，也颇有童趣。当然细细的薯条永远是小朋友的最爱。

The dish that stole the show was the fruit salad. Extremely colourful and vibrant, it is what summer taste like! Freshly cut mango, passionfruit, kiwifruit, pineapple, mixed berries and a large piece of watermelon, topped with a raspberry sorbet and sprinkled with coconut flakes, this fruit salad brings the tropics to your table.

没想到艳压群芳的居然是水果色拉。这道水果色拉一端上来，满眼的色彩，五彩缤纷，色彩斑斓，像夏天一样的炫丽。它集结了新鲜的芒果，百香果，奇异果，各式野莓，还有西瓜，然后淋上蔓越莓雪葩还有撒上椰子片，把火热的热带风景带到你的眼前。

We weren’t expecting great food from a restaurant where the main selling point was the water view, but we were presently surprised – the food was very delicious, and the presentation was really something – edible arts that imbued creativity. The abundance of healthy options was also a big plus. It is a great café with both good view and good food. Highly Recommended.

当我们选择这家临水风景秀丽的餐厅，多少对食物的期待少了许多，没有想到这里的食物不仅美味可口，摆盘也别具匠心，众多健康的菜式更是值得嘉许。如果你想美食和美景都兼得，这里是个不错的选择。
