Tomorrow I'll post about the GSLs. They're becoming much more human friendly, but for now it's Koekoek again. This is where she sits when we walk the property.

She jumped down to range a bit today. I was cool with it til the baby started chasing her. These kids are being extra lately and I'm low on patience.

We've got ten comfrey plants as of today ranging from ½" to 6" tall. yesterday there were six, and Saturday there were four. Guess they're popping up nicely now!

It looks like you have a really cool life. I’m completely sick of sitting in a windowless room all day under artificial light.

A lot of people feel the same way, myself included. You're not alone! A garden is a great way to brighten your day with a little bit of fulfilling outside time. I can't express how relaxing it is to pull weeds. People gripe and complain about it, but I think it's a great way to unwind.

Yay for the comfrey! Looks like it likes your place.

I can't wait for it to take over and be everywhere lol!! I've never had any luck with any plants til this year. Every time I tried at my parents house as a kid, it all died. Except morning glories and whatever mom planted. Maybe my thumb is turning green like hers.

Let's hope it turns into a whole green hand....

Yeah! That would be awesome!

There were eleven out there when I went to bed this morning.

I had a mostly blind chicken that would ride on my shoulder all day if I let it. It would come when come when I called its name "Little One" (it was a runt too) and hop on my feet, ready for a ride.

Oh and happy HF20 day, Nate!

That's awesome! Chickens are super cool. Maybe Koekoek will answer to her name one day.

Happy HF20! :D

SMTs, here we come!!!!

What kind of chicken was she?

hahaha! hey nateonsteemit! do those chickens ever relieve themselves on your arm? lol.

😂😂😂

Not yet, but I bet it'll happen one day.

My chickens are the scaredyist chickens I've ever seen. If one of them was on my arm like that, it would be because she was biting the fire outta me.

If you show them love, they will love you back.

Was that a good dose of hippy crap? 😂
Idk, mine jump up and eat out of my hand. They're super tame, except the three i bought that were raised by their original owners. We've handled the chicks a lot daily, so I guess they learned not to be scared of us.

How many do you have. My neighbor has 2, we can only have 3 max in town. Not sure its worth the trouble for 3....

We have nine right now. Ours are illegal.

Three would give you probably a dozen eggs a week. They need a minimum of 10 square feet of run space each, but I like more space per bird than that.

The birds are the least expensive part. About $3-5 a pop as chicks here and $15-20 as young adults. If you built a coop and run for pretty cheap, I could see them paying off. The key is to keep with it, so your first flock would break even and after that they're paid off. With three birds it wouldn't be so much an income supplement, but a cost elimination.

If you're looking for something that might be less regulated and easier to conceal and do on a larger scale, look into quail. Only require about a square foot per bird, they're quieter and make more eggs, though the eggs are smaller. They can be harvested for meat as soon as five weeks and start producing eggs about seven weeks. A lot of places don't consider them poultry, so they don't fall under that regulation. I've heard they can be classified as wild animals, but some laws need broken some times.
