Session 39 - 27th August
Another day where it is necessary to update the records: almost forty kilometers with a difference in height near the nine hundred meters! It's the longest session since I started pedaling (last year). The program of the day had to be lighter (the idea was to do the exact same lap of the past session) but halfway through I met some friends who were making their rides and for about ten kilometers I joined them. This meeting ended up lengthening the path but I'm happy, also because in the end I managed to finish the training quite well. The sun is back, the 30°C is back and my legs respond much better!
As for my training I wanted to say that I always prefer to do it alone for a very simple reason: my friends are much more prepared and make group outings with them would be a torture both for me and for themselves. They should slow down the pace they normally take and I should speed it up. In short, a situation in which no one would be satisfied so before joining me I prefer to reach a physical condition closer to their standards.
As for the route and especially the climb that now you know well today I was able to follow it in a very regular, trying to keep an eye on the heart rate monitor to never exceed thresholds too high. Apparently my "comfort zone" ends once I pass the 167-168 beats per minute: I can not afford to keep these frequencies for more than a few hundred meters. There is still a lot to work with! My friends can go up to 180 beats per minute without suffering too much! One day maybe I will succeed too...
